Family, and friends affidavit.

Hello everyone,

Quick question. Can anyone give me some general tips (or lead me in the right direction to find said tips) on having someone write up an affidavit in support of proving that my fiancé and I have been physically present in the past two years?

We have a lot of good primary evidence, but the last thing I want is an RFE to slow down this already lengthy process.

As for tips, I'm kind of looking for general layout of the document - format, header, pertinent information to supply - obviously nothing personal since all cases are vastly different.

You're from a low-fraud and you have good primary evidence, then add in a few photos and you're good to go. You really don't need the affidavits.

I agree with Sparkle on your country being low fraud but if you want to include affidavit from friends and families. It is entirely up to oneself. We included ours in our initial I-129F package but not sure is of any use at all. Some people in this forum mention that they actually don't bother reading it and threw them away. I am not sure how true is this since I have not seen it with my own eyes. There is no harm to include those letters anyways.

We have all these people(8 of families and friends) write their own letter saying whatever they want regarding of our relationship, our outing, we have pictures attached with it too. There's no template of whatsoever for this. You don't want all the letters to be the same and then they will think that it's just another template like any other letter that is signed for. Ask them to write it as original as it is.

Do not rely solely on my comment/what I did with our I-129F package. Hope other VJ-er can enlighten you further on your case.

Don't make the mistake I did of making a moutain out of a 129-F initial petition.

This was new SHEET to me.

Family or friends stating you met means nothing... Understand that.

Send your Evidence and money like everyone else does.

See the guides for help and its simple if you have met within the 2 year timeline of filing the the 129-F.

You simply need solid proof you met before filing.. up to the 2 year limit....

I wouldn't say that it means nothing. Based on what others have posted on vj, and as per the consultation of an immigration lawyer, both seen to think it has some merit...

My fiancé is from a low-fraud country, we have significant primary evidence, and I don't think we'll get an RFE, HOWEVER why not go that extra mile to try to ensure our case won't get delayed. Even if it does in fact have little bearing on proving anything, I plan on doing everything it takes to ensure our k-1 is as easy as possible.

As for sending my evidence and money like everyone else does, I fully plan on it. I'm not sure if you meant to come off brash, but that's the vibe you're giving off.

I only came here for the help and guidance of others on a topic that almost everyone goes into blind. That being said, thank you for your insight.

Why would you pay a Immigration Lawyer to provide the information you already have. Does the 129-F ask for Affidavites? No.. It's a simple form.

This is your life ... And of course hers.

From the time you file the 129-F to the time of the interview you could gather so many proofs of your relationship beyond the filing of the 129-F. Thats what they will want to see.

What they want to see NOW is a Complete 129-F which includes no LIB. (You can if you wish)

Firstly, I met with an immigration lawyer before I knew visa journey existed. It was only an hour long consultation, since I had no idea how the process worked, and knew no one that had done the process before.

Secondly, you're right. The I-129F does not speciall specifically ask for an affidavit. However, it doesn't ask for ANY specific documentation. It says nothing about passport stamps, boarding passes, itineraries, photos, atm withdraws. So given your logic, if it doesn't specifically ask for something, I just shouldn't send anything.

I've read up on this a lot, and consider myself fairly up to date on all of the paperwork, policies, and procedures - but occasionally I want a second, third, and twentieth opinion. This is one of those instances.

If you don't think an affidavit is necessary, that's fine. I'm here to get the opinions of many, and educate myself to the utmost degree before mailing out our packet.

I appreciate your input if you're just trying to help me out, but you're coming off exceedingly rude. Hopefully it's a language barrier.

They are not necessary and won't really have any affect on your case, but if you choose to include them anyway, there are some example affidavits in the example forms here on VJ under the Lifting Conditions section > http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples
