I'm a permanent resident here in USA. I just moved here August this year with my parents. I have a boyfriend in the Philippines whom I love so much. I cannot imagine getting married with anyone but him.So of course we want to be together in the future with a better life. I am planning to go home NEXT MONTH, DECEMBER, to the Philippines to get married. Because I heard that I can get him much faster using F2A Category. However, I'm also hearing that I shouldn't get married yet -- and wait for me to become a US CITIZEN (which is for several years) and just get my boyfriend through a Fiance Visa.

I am so confused now. Please anyone, help me decide. Enlighten me of what to do.

Thank you for your response. My concern is the speed. Which one is faster ? Because I really want to be careful and make sure of the course that I take.

Should I marry him NEXT MONTH, and file for F2A?

Or should I wait to become a US Citizen first then file for Fiance Visa?

Please explain what should I do. Because I also need to explain it to my parents.

It will take 5 YEARS before you qualify for Naturalization plus another 6 months or more to get the fiancee visa.

File F2A now. It will take more or less a year to get it done. At most will be 2 years, depending on the movement of the visa bulletin.

Marry him then file for a f2A. That's what I did. Came here last July 2012, took a vacation to PH on May 2013 to marry my boyfriend now husband. Filed his petition August of this year and now we're almost there. Good luck! Apple21 is correct.
