Rio interview scheduling question

We just got our notice from the consulate in Rio de Janeiro for our K-1 interview on January 14 - the end is in sight!

I was a bit surprised that the letter gave a specific time of 9:20 for the interview. All of the consulate reviews I've seen for Rio describe everyone going in together around 7:15 a.m. and there being little rhyme or reason as to who gets called in when. Our letter said nothing about being there when the doors open -- just that the interview is scheduled for 9:20.

Have they changed their procedure, or should we just show up for the 7:15 mass entry anyway?

Did you wait for the letter from the consulate to prepare the papers? The package 3 and all they ask in the site is send to them?

Im kind of confused.

Rio does not send packet 3. They send a letter with the date and time of the interview and a link to the web site with a list of everything to bring. You don't send any papers in advance -- everything is brought to the interview.

My question is about the time for the interview -- what we were told in the letter seems different from what everyone else has described.

David, my interview is on January 21st, and I haven't even received the letter yet, but in the email I received from the Consulate with the interview date they said I had to be there at 7:15am... which makes me think they haven't changed their procedure. Why don't you email them just to make sure they didn't make a mistake on the letter they sent you?

David, please forget what I said. My letter arrived today and, just like yours, it says 09:20am. I emailed the consulate 5 min ago, let's see what they're going to say. I have a feeling that now the doors open at 09:20 instead of 07:15...

Did you guys have any choice on when to schedule your interview or did they just send you the date and time and you have to make it work? We might have trouble making an interview unless it is at the end of February or Mid-March or later. Just curious as it seems they just send it to you which would make it hard for me to be ther with her as I will be in Brazil in December also and don't really have more vacation days to take off.

They replied to my email but didn't really answer my questions. They just said they changed the way the interviews are scheduled and asked me to arrive at the date and time written on the letter I received. I'll probably arrive about an hour early though (I'm going to leave home early just in case I get stuck in traffic).

No, we don't get choose our interview date. The people at the consulate schedule the interview and send us letter with the date and time, and a few other instructions. But since the USC doesn't have to be present at the interview, I'm sure your fiancée will be fine if she goes there by herself.

My fiancee might have to reschedule her interview at the end of February if that is the date we get as she has a graduation party around that time. Does anyone have a clue if she asks for a new date how much later would they reschedule? I'm sure with Carnival being in early March they won't use the first two weeks of that month? I hope it wouldn't delay her interview by too much time.

Does anyone know now if you need to fill out the DS-160 form to get a K1 interview in Rio? If so then can you schedule it online after filling out the form and paying the fees?

We received a letter from the NVC stating to complete the DS-160 form online before the interview. Additionally, if you check the requirements for the K1 visa at the Rio de Janeiro consulate, you should see that form on the list. What fee are you talking about?

We are in the same situation and may need to re-schedule the interview date.

Were you able to change the date? How?

Were you able to suggest a better timeframe?

What was their response?

Are we able to pick a different interview date through the DS-160 now?

Do exactly what is written on doc.
