Both NOA2s arrived on snail mail today. I've been bracing myself for this, but now it is confirmed: I130 is being retained for AOS. USCIS did this even though I wrote in the application that I want consular processing at Hongkong.

Now I'm faced with whether to file I824 and enrich Uncle Sam by another $200 or not. Anyone knows how long will VSC take to act on it and forward the case to NVC? If they'll be taking several months, I might as well tell my wife to stick with K3 and file the AOS after she arrives.

Thanks!

Mike H.,

Why did you submit an I-129f? With that answer in mind, and the I-129f Approval Notice in hand, why would you want to spend $200 to have the approved I-130 sent to the NVC when the USCIS is just going to have to call it back again.....

Just in case the I130 takes forever.

Right now, we're inclined to abandon the K3 and pursue IR1. This way, my wife doesn't need to do the AOS and work authorization after arriving.

I hope I'm making some sense now ...

Rob and Melinda, maraming salamat! I'm Taiwanese, but I grew up and finished college in the RP. Still remember the "mahabang pila" in front of US Embassy Manila that I had to go through for my F1. :D
