I called the State Department (1-202-663-1225) to enquire about my wife's interview date at the Delhi embassy and was told that her interview is scheduled for January 18th. That is about 30 days away and she still has not received her packet 4. I had emailed the embassy about 10 days ago and they said they have no information about her interview date. Is this normal ? Should she just wait for her interview letter or should she make a trip to the emabassy in Delhi and enquire what is going on. According to the Delhi embassy, she must submit all her papers no sooner than 15 days and not later than 10 days before the interview date. Thanks. :help:

Download packet 4 from the embassy website and call VFS. If you have an interview date it will show in VFS's system. GOOD LUCK !

Thanks for the reply. I will have her do that. What about her medical examination. What is she going to need from packet 4 to go for her medical exam. Thanks.

Hi! Congratulations on getting the interview date! :dancing: Glad to hear that things are rolling along nicely for you guys. Joy's interveiw was scheduled for January 8th, so we are really excited too! :)

The doctor in Delhi asked Joy to bring his interview appointment letter to his medical, so this will probably be required of your wife as well. The letter is part of packet 4, but if she has not received by the time she needs to have her medical “you may collect a duplicate copy of the appointment letter from the American Embassy on Nyaya Marg at information window number one on any working day between 4.00 p.m. and 500 p.m.”

Delhi allows you to hand carry anything you didn't submit to VFS to the interview itself, so it's not absolutely necessary for her to have the medical before she submits the documents. Joy submitted in his documents yesterday, and his medical isn't until tomorrow. VFS just gave a checklist style receipt that shows what was given and what he still needed to bring along to the interview to have a complete application.

Don't forget the 10-15 are working days. Good luck, (F) I'm sure everything will go smoothly and you will be doing the visa-approved-happy-dance on the 18th.
