Hello,

We have tickets for my fiance to visit America over the Christmas and New Years Holidays. The application just arrived at the NVC. Can anyone give me the current wait time for scheduling an interview in Moscow? Is the embassy wait list one week long, 1 month? I would like to know if it is possible to have her travel on the K-1 visa, and stay!!! If not, we will go back for the interview.

thanks

You bought tickets before you know for sure your visa is approved and you are for sure going to the U.S.?

No, they were planning to use a different visa and are going on the assumption that he will not be turned away at the border....

of which they know is a possibility. Personally I'd suggest to not gamble on the loss of plane tickets if turned away since CBP will see that a K-1 petition is in the works.

I didn't know you could have multiple visas when in the process of the K1 visa. Actually, a consulate told my fiance that it is against the law for him to provide a B2 tourist visa to him while we are in the K1 process...

It took about a week for the consulate to check the arrived documents, and you could choose the date of interview yourself when your case status ( check your MOS number at the ceac.state.gov) says READY.

I was able to have my interview a couple weeks ago, but have to wait for the russian police certificate.

Thanks for the response. When you went to the site to actually schedule the interview, what was the minimum wait time for the interview? Are all of the interview slots taken for the next 5 days? Can you get a slot in 2 days? I suspect we will go back together after the Holidays for the interview, but I am just trying to see if it is possible get the interview before Christmas. Her paperwork is 'in transit' to the consular section now.

Also, congratulations.
