Why don't you try watching it? It might surprise you. All of Tyler Perry's movies have a slight religious lean except for Alex Cross and Good Deeds,(which both sucked IMO) but this one was pretty good due to the stars doing their own thing.

My wife really loved it also. One of our favs

Being an atheist the religious aspect doesn't have a lot of draw for me.. But since we have now talked about it I am sure if I see it pop up on the television I'll feel a pull to watch it just because of some nagging recollection in the back of my head smile.png

I have not really been serious on this topic but for the OP:

There are several science and skeptic related conferences in Vegas each year and one topic discussed every single time is "How do we increase the diversity of our panel and attendees?" Woman are more the focus than ethic groups but all groups are brought up.. Just like the original post there is usually a list of reasons and also of possible steps to take.. Do you know what is different in their lists than the one posted in this thread? You will never find a negative reason or putting the blame on those that did no attend - they always put the burden on themselves as to why the problem exists and what needs to be done to fix it.

If you want me to see a movie make it appealing to me.. If you don't want to make your movie appealing to me or my demographic that is your choice but don't be upset or imply that the problem is with me when I choose not to see it (or rather choose another movie instead).

I personally don't care about race in a film. If it's good, I'll go see it. I know a lot of black people support black films, as do I if they appeal to me. I won't go see some low rate trash because it has black folks in it.

Someone posted this on FB, and this is where I got it. I figured it fit some of the stereotypes I see batted around on here by some of our enlightened friends smile.png

Warning there is some weird ####### in these photos.

Because they are low budget films or films that are specifically made for a certain audience. And there is enough cultural difference there so that others cannot relate.

The movies that are mentioned in here as exceptions are because if either of those above reasons are not existent in a particular movie, then others will see it.

Low budget films aren't specific to race. Ask Steven Segal and JCVD about that one. I think there are a lot of films that get passed over due to a strong presence of black people in it. This is why folks were shocked BMH did so well in the box office.

I never said that low budget films are limited to just black films. I'm aware that there are other low budget films out there.

I said that many black films, specifically ones that whites are not interested in, are low budget. They reason they are is because no Hollywood producer is going to make a big budget film that only caters to a relatively small sector of society.

That is, unless he wants to go bankrupt.

The problem with this is many black actors don't get roles that involve a wider audience. Halle Berry or Sanaa Lathan could have carried Gravity, just like Will Smith, or even Terrence Howard could have been in Inception.

Obviously these actors have been in big budget films that cater to wider audiences. They may have not been cast in the specific roles you mentioned, but they have been cast in others.

Add Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington to that list, and the successful films they've been in.

However, the thread was about films that are considered "black movies". Those films are not black movies.
