Documents to gather to bring to US after approval

Just wondering what I need. I sent original copies of police clearance and proof of birth with packet 3, can we get those back at the interview?

I purchased seven originals of everything I got in Philippines. We each had an additional original with us at her interview. As I always say, 'YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY ORIGINALS" I mean in Philippines the documents are reasonably inexpensive but the peace of mind is well worth it.

You are done with the police report after the K-1 is issued. You'll need the original BC for a few things in the US. Marriage certificate, photo ID, etc.

My advise, get the original Birth Certificate & translation done in triplicate.

Additionally, get the Mom & Dads & any dependent children Id cards copied.

so the only copy of her proof of birth (no birth certificate) is in the hands of the us embassy BKK... maybe i should extend my vacation a little bit and go to burma after my girlfriends thai visa expires on 21 jan, then she could get additional copies...

well. you will need that birth document when she gets to the US. As you suggested, maybe they will return it to you at the interview. But, if it was me, I would want multiple copies. Stuff happens............ It will be much easier to get additional copies now then when she is here.

My advice would be yes, do that. There have been numerous members here that gave the embassy what they thought was fine for proof of birth and the embassy accepted it without a problem and issued the visa Then once the K-1 fiancee comes the U.S. and goes to adjust status, USCIS wont accept the document. The you're stuck trying to get family members back in Burma or Thailand to run around and get the right documentation.
