I emailed the Embassy to ask for an extension. In the meantime I'm working on getting us out of here! As always your advice is greatly appreciated.

June 4, 2012 - Kelly and I had our first chats on Skype and Windows Live Messenger.

July 10 - 25, 2012 - We met in person and spent time together during my trip to Barranquilla, Colombia. At the end of the trip we decided to apply for the fiancee visa.

August 1, 2012 - I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancee sent via Fed Ex.

August 3, 2012 - Petition received at the USCIS Lock box in Lewisville, Texas.

August 7, 2012 - Received NOA 1 email and text message. Received the official NOA 1 letter in the mail a few days later. The petition was forwarded to the infamous Vermont Service Center.

March 6, 2012 - Received email from USCIS stating that our visa petition was approved and the NOA 2 letter was sent on March 5th.

I don't know about the fine men and women of the Bogota embassy, but by the time most consulates tend to respond to emails, you'll likely be married with 4 kids.

While it may seem like a small technicality, the CBP officer cannot, and will not admit her into the US if her visa is expired. Even by one day. Change your flight ASAP. Change it to the 22nd if you

I feel what you're saying Yang-Ja. If we can leave tomorrow we will. Kelly is frustrating me now because she wants to go to the hairdresser so she can look good for my family and I'm dealing with this crisis smile.png.

The embassy responded to me. They said no extension , change the flights. I'll try to get us to the States as soon as I can.

If the visa expires on the 23rd, it will no longer be valid after that date. If your flight is for the 24th, she will not be able to enter the US (expired visa). I suggest you change your flight.

Hello all. My fiancée Kelly was approved in May. I had just lost my job so I planned to wait a few months before bringing her to the US. When I didn't find a job by October I decided to come to Colombia this week to get Kelly before her visa expires. I thought since the interview was May 29th the visa expired on November 29th, 6 months later. I bought our plane tickets for the flight to New York on the 24th. I just realized today when I looked at Kelly's visa the visa expires on the 23rd! Will Kelly be able to travel on the 24th or do I have to change our flights to the 23rd? Thank you for your help.

You will have to change the flight.

K-1 visa is valid 6 months from the day of her medical, not interview.

For example, if you take medical on December 22, it will be valid through June 22.

• Feb 25, 2013 – USCIS Dallas Lockbox received
• Feb 27, 2013 – NOA1 date (CSC)
• Mar 04, 2013 – NOA1 hardcopy in mail

• Aug 07, 2013 – NOA2 (161 days)

• Aug 10, 2013 – NOA2 hardcopy in mail

• Sep 04, 2013 – file sent out from CSC

• Sep 12, 2013 – NVC assigned TKY case #

• Sep 13, 2013 – file in transit to TKY from NVC

• Sep 16, 2013 – CEAC site case status "READY"

• Oct 21, 2013 – Interview at Tokyo Embassy, approved in 3 minutes (236 days since NOA1)
