I already sent out my i 485 EAD and AP, and now realized I was supposed to put my married name on it??? I had read previously to use my maiden name until after my GC was approved, now I am worried I wont be able to change my last name to my husbands?

Anyone know what I should do? OR if I can still change it later? OR if they will think it's suspicious i kept my maiden name as my last name on my app?

ughhh :(

Not much you can do now that you sent it. You could try asking about it to get your name changed to your married name at your biometrics appointment. Schedule an infopass appointment for that same day even and see if they can help you. Explain that you filed in you maiden name by mistake and want your EAD and green card in your new married name,

If they cannot help, you could ask at your interview, if you even have one, The IO may be able to get it changed before the green card is printed.

If you do not have an interview and none of those work out for you, then you will need to file the I-90 after you receive your green card and pay the $450 fee to have it changed to your married name, OR, wait until you have to file for ROC and then fill out the I-751 for your 10 year card in your married name at that time.

Joan's name was spelled wrong (typo) on her NOA form for EAD and GC. We caught it the day of our biometrics. We called customer service and they fixed it over the phone. No problem, but I am not sure if it was because it was their typo. It is worth a phone call i it saves you $450.00!

thanks for your help, and definitely worth saving $450!

Call now!!! The should be a phone number on the NOA forms! You'll have to give them all three case numbers and repeat the same information three times (if you applied for EAD and AP). The guy I spoke to was very nice and easy to work with.

I called and all I need to do is send a letter to the NBC stating I need to change my maiden name to married name, I appreciate your advice - just saved me $450
