Hi, I am Saira from Islamabad Pakistan. I need urgent advice from fellow members about US Spouse/Fiance Visas.

I am engaged to a US Citizen, and want to know which is the fastest way to get together in US with my fiance/future husband?

I have heard K1 Visa is fastest. However, is it still issued to Pakistanis? And is it really faster than K3? I am asking because if K1 is really fastest and easily granted to Pakistanis, we shall get married in USA instead of in Paksitan. Else, we shall go via marriage in Pakistan, thereby lodging for a K3.

Also can anyone let me know the total processing times of K1 and K3 after the petitions for each have been filed?

Thanks.

There is no time frame for either. I did a spouse visa and it's been a year and half since I filed and he still isn't here. A friend of mine did fiancé visa and her fiancé came after more then 2 years. Every case is different and it varies.

Good luck on this hard journey.

AP is a killer for Pakistan Embassy! I agree with others! my thoughts to you is to apply as soon as possible! If it will take you a month or two for your husband to come to paki and get married, i would not waist the month.. I would just apply for K1 right now! Get the process started than waiting!!

Thanks a lot guys for your concerns!

Well, its an arranged marriage, and we have seen pictures and talked on skype and are engaged! We have yet to meet in person inshaAllah! So we can apply for K1 or K3 only after we meet which is after few days inshaAllah. So, after we meet, either we can get married ASAP or just stay engaged so as to apply for a K1. But as I heard K1 Visas are not issued to Pakistanis anymore due to the Pakistani's bad reputation in general (as its not mentioned on the USCIS or ISB embassy websites), so I want to make sure if there are any actual recently successful cases of K1 for any Pakistani's. Hence, if anyone out there, or knows about actual real cases approved recently, please let me know.

Else, we shall move on for a K3 Visda, esp if the Visa Processing time is almost same for both K1 and K3.

Also, can anyone advise if we get married then what are the chances of applying for a K3 rather than a CR1/IR1? Because as Iv heard and seen on several forums, K3 Visas are not issued any more to Pakistanis again, and only CR1/IR1 Visas route is the only route for married couples in Pakistan?

Thanks!

You cannot petition anyone for K1 visa route until you have physically met the person you are engaged to marry.

CR1/IR1 are issued 99% of the time for people everywhere in the world who are going the spousal visa route. (K3 is a spousal visa) You can try but 99% of the time you will end up on the CR1 route because of rules at the National Visa Center.

You would also have to meet the person to marry them as proxy marriages are not allowed for the spousal visa route.

Your best bet is to go to Pakistan and meet this person and decide what you want to do now. Most women in Pakistan do not undergo AP but it's mandatory for men.
