Well I guess it depends. The senator's office will tell you when the embassy replies. If the senator's office hasn't told you that the embassy replied then it's safe to say that it was updated due to itself but don't hold my statement to merit. I might be wrong.

Secondly, you question about if inquiry was sent today, is there a chance that the case will update tomorrow or will it take some days? Again, that depends on when the embassy looks at your file and replies to the senator's office and what triggers the update, just opening your file or actually replying, or an actual update to the file, etc. It's really difficult to analyze such scenarios. Sorry I can't give a concrete answer on this one. :( Maybe someone else might have more insight into this than me.

Did you get married on that 17 day visit? Believe it or not they are always looking for something to complain about and say it's against Pakistani culture or doesn't look right.

When we fall in love with our Pakistani husbands/wives we are not thinking about pleasing the people that work for the embassy. Most of us don't have any idea of what they put Pakistani's through to get a visa. Your CO has decided that you have what we call on VJ red flags. You got married on the first visit and only stayed a short time with your husband. Did you have a good reason for only staying 17 days and did your husband tell the CO the reason? It's not our business on VJ to get into your personal business, we just offer non legal advice. Did you have a big wedding and take lots of pictures and show the CO? If you didn't have a big wedding, why not?

These are some of the questions the CO is asking and they might call your husband for a 2nd interview. He should be prepared for that and have answers for these questions and any others they might ask.

omg :(, I don't mind sharing the info as it might help others and myself with this ap...

ok so we met online (Facebook) august 2011, got engaged november 2012, I traveled to pakistan with my mother september 2013 to get married and it was the first and only time I've seen my husband and I stayed for 17 days (yes he gave the reason that it was because of work). Our wedding was not big but not small either, and we had almost 200 pictures of the wedding and of all the days i spent there with his family...we are both muslims, i was a christian before but accepted islam about 6 months before I met my husband and I am 5 years older than him. We have never been married before, no kids, my husband has never traveled out of pakistan, and he has lived in the same house in rawalpindi since he was born...The CO didn't asked any complicated questions just the basics, looked at the whole photo album, and only asked to keep the Skype, Facebook, and mobile call logs. so in the end he told my husband he needs to put him in AP (he said he doesn't know for how long, that he can't say) gave him 221g white slip and his passport back and didn't request anymore documents, and in the end he told my husband that if i was present at the interview with him it would've been better...what worries me most about this is that they didn't keep his passport and gave it back to him.

Many times they don't keep the passport and just ask for it when they are ready to issue the visa. I wish you had been able to stay longer in Pakistan so they wouldn't have that to complain about. Your case looks good. You knew him for a long time before you got married and have proof of that. In order to deny a visa they must have a good reason in their opinion. Make sure the neighbors know he is married to you and did the correct thing to have so many wedding pictures at the interview.

How come they keep passports in some cases and in others they dont? Is it a good sign when the person who goes to the interview , gets the welcome to america rights sheets, the one with contact numbers in the US and tells you of all the rights you have. My husband' was put in to AP and asked to submit additional documents, but the VO kept his passport and gave him that pamphlet, so I took that as a good sign. Do they give those pamphlets to everyone or just to the ones they intend to issue the visa?

US Embassy sucks. Either US Embassy should give a visa or refuse. They must not with our lives. Whole of the South America crosses borders and lives illegally making ####### babies and enjoying US Taxpayer's money in the form of social security. No human knows real intentions and its just an assumption that may or may not be true which normally US Embassy staff makes. I am sorry to say but its a fact that US is not a very family oriented country where living without marriage is normal. With such a background how can a person undersand MARRIAGE and the role it plays in the lives of Pakistani people. What I understand from the experiences of people here is that MAJORLY US Embassy staff thinks that the person wants to get a green card. They look at marriages as a way to dodge immigration system (it may have been true in many BUT not all the cases) and the time they put people on their so called outdated and bogus ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING is dirty, rotten and obselete system of delaying tactics. I wish those who play havoc with the lives of people, May God sternly punishm them here and hereafter and make their lives LIVING HELL and give them painful and miserable deaths.

You are wrong the United States is a very family oriented Country and it welcomes legal immigrants. For reasons unknown to us Pakistani men and women are given a difficult time getting visas. Some of it is due to marriage fraud and some of it is due to trying to keep those that would harm and kill Americans out.

Also there are lazy people at that embassy both American and Pakistani who spend their days drinking tea/coffee and not working cases. Because there is a new Ambassador and top staff they are working more cases and more visas are being issued.

Believe me when I say the embassy in Islamabad is the worse embassy in the world and I am the last one to defend them. What I am defending is my Country which I love and that allows both Christians and Muslims to live side by side in peace. We are a Country that belives in freedom. We have the right to marry or not to marry. Our Country has found that making everything against the law does not work. In Pakistan it is against the law for Muslims to drink alcohol yet I saw Pakistani males drinking it. People are people and they will drink, smoke, have babies, etc even if it means breaking legal and religious laws.

Please do not insult America or Americans based on the actions of 1 embassy.

It is up to the CO if the passport will be kept or not. It really doesn't mean a whole lot in my opinion. They kept my husbands passport and 2 years of AP later our visa was denied. I believe they give the pamphlet to everyone after their interview. In your case they asked for additional documents I pray that after they review them they will issue the visa.

Carolynhotstuff, I didnt say anything about the US rather I talked about US Embassy in Pakistan regarding their operations of IMMIGRANT VISA which you also seconded. They are not just lazy but also full of hypocrites and that includes both Pakistani and non Pakistani. What I said is about cultural difference and that is one prime reason not to understand what marriage IS; in the lievs of Pakistanis including Muslims and Christians of Pakistani origin both. I dont use religion in rational discussion..

You mentioned people trying to kill Americans, HOW MANY OF PAKISTANI YOU HAVE SEEN ARE TRYING TO KILL YOU? In fact its more non Pakistanis that are killing Pakistanis than Pakistanis and again that is a problem we Pakistanis are facing.

But believe it or not, I have lost all my hopes of being with my wife who is now terminal patient of depression and has stopped her psychitric treatment. She is now living like a robot without any emotions and on the verge of nervous breakdown or death. All due to that sick CO who thought strange stories in her head. I would say this to her and every sick and sadist person involved in this process, YOU ARE NOT GOD AND YOU DONT KNOW OUR INTENTIONS. THE WAY YOU MADE US SUFFER, MAY GOD LET YOU SUFFER IN THE SAME WAY AND NOT LIMIT YOU BUT YOUR KIDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS LIKE YOU DID TO US.
