New medical, 2 passport photos and DS 260 filled and sent on Dec 13, 2013. Lets see how long it takes them to process these documents. Last update on US DOS website in our case was Dec 05, 2013 when they called our home in Pakistan and requested above documents.

Desibaaba I pray they will work on your case when they get the documents and soon after issue the visa. They didn't do that with my husband. He sent fresh documents and medical in April and it was months before we heard from the embassy again.

Request your assistance.

My AP was cleared in 3.5 months previously (embassy emailed saying congratulations n all!), but then due to DS2019 delay, my case was ''closed'' and passport snt back to USEFP Islamabad (who deal with Fulbrighters visa). When my ds2019 or i-20 document was sent, my contact person at USEFP called embassy to know if they could reopen my case (abt a month after ''closing'') but they said NO. I needed to be reinterviewed...

I just want to knw how i can avoid the same fate again. My joining date is Jan 13. I'm afraid if AP is not complete by Jan 13 and again my revised DS2019 for fall 2014 gets late, they might close my case at embassy after AP and make me go thru the same ordeal..

Sorry for the details: In short, can I perhaps email and request them to keep the case ''open'' if my new DS2019 gets late...

AND do they have any timeline by which they can hold on to passport and wait for additional documents once AP is over...

I quit my job and am really tense these days.. for this AP.. wrote this in papers to see if anyone's hearing our plight!

Myra,

The medical is supposed to be good for 1 year. You could email or call the embassy to see if they made a mistake asking for a new medical.

The embassy just sent my husband an email asking for a new medical and I knew that wasn't right. I had my senator's office email them and the embassy wrote back and said his medical was good until March 24, 2014. I don't have the money to spend on medicals that are not needed. Please contact your embassy and question them about the medical.

Carolyn,

I received this e-mail from the embassy this morning

The medical examination that was submitted on 21 May 2013 was only valid until 20 November 2013. Please obtain a new medical as soon as possible so that your visa can be issued.

Thank you,

Immigrant Visa Unit

Consular Section

U. S. Embassy, Kabul

So I guess now the medicals are only good for 6 months. We have made an appointment to obtain a new medical hopefully this will be over soon.

Take care

I still think you or anyone shouldnt quit their jobs before getting your visa issued.

My husband was asked to submit a new medical in reply to a congressional inquiry. They only asked for a new medical, I was wondering does he need to send in anything else? or just the medical they asked for ?

Any help would be appreciated.
