This is what I found out today, if you get your interview for your immigrant visa in a marriage case, and at the time of the interview your marriage is less than 2 years, then if your case gets approved you get a conditional residency which is valid for 2 years and has to be changed within 90 days of the 2 years expiration.

Since my wife is in the same situation I checked the fees for form I-751 which is the form she will need to file and it is a whooping $500 + $85 for biometrics. Now in my case our 2nd anniversary will be Feb 24 so that's a while away and I don't want her to wait there much longer so I will have to pay the fees. Also since my wife is pregnant in her 5th month traveling later will be impractical and unsafe and then she will have to file for another visa for the baby if she stays and delivers there so we decided its no use in waiting. But if someone has time on their hands and/or their anniversary date is close by then best thing to do is reschedule the interview to a date that is after your 2nd anniversary date so that once you are approved you get the permanent residency not the conditional one.
