Hi guys,

Our interview will be on Wednesday!!!! We are looking forward to it since we will be done with immigration for two years, but also we are a little nervous about how it will be (e.g. if the officer is nice or not, if they insist on asking intimate questions, stuff like that, read a lot about not so nice officers.....)

Checklist:

- Interview letter

- All NOAs and DHS letters

- EAD and AP

- Passport and I-94, hubbies American passport

- birth and marriage certificates

- joint lease

- joint bank account, joint credit card

- joint health plan, Geico car insurance, life insurance for hubbie with me as beneficiary, joint Sprint family plan

- joint bills (sofa express, wedding photographer, our new Dell computer)

- joint bills for utilities (Duke electricity) and doctors (me as poor sick person, hubbie as plan holder)

- wedding album, other photo album (from first days as a couple till today, including us with my friends, family and his family)

- joint cat adoption

- affidavit of support - no need for update is the same as two months ago ;) (though it says on our letter only necessary if it wasn't submitted yet!!!!)

- flight tickets to SFO (I visited my in laws last week)

- a ton of greeting cards addressed to both of us (wedding, thanksgiving, christmas, just so)

- greeting cards to each other when we were a couple, receipts for flowers hubbie sent to me when I worked in NYC

- my J1 trainee visa documentation, including recommendation letter

- proof of bank account in Germany, insurance for being unable to work (both still in Germany since I did not plan to stay in the USA)

- flight ticket to Frankfurt (which I never used since I got married, was purchased before I entered the US)

So... I hope this is fine....

Only problem: with the AOS application we were so cautious that we submitted original documents (my and his birht certificate and marriage certificate). We packed still the originals for the interview, only my translated birth certificate is missing. Unfortunately a letter sent from my parents with the international birht certificate (letter with tracking, express, blablabla) was returned as undeliverable to them (mailman's fault, address was complete, not the first time that we do not get our mail). Anyway, I will get a translation tomorrow since I have my original, German certificate here with me. But in case it won't be ready - don't they still have our originals we sent in????

And last thing: our credit cards are paperless, so we don't have any statements (we just download it in Quicken), but we can show the officer our credit cards (Amex, VISA MBNA) with our names and the same number (I am the authorized user). Only for my VISA I kept the letter stating that hubbie is an authorized user since only Bank of America sends statements for some reason.

Is that enough or did we forget something? We don't have driver's licenses from NC yet (hubbie still has his CA one, I have my German one), I hope they don't mind!

Thanks,

Anna

Wow Anna, If everyone was as prepared as you, then no one would have a problem.

Relax. You have everything that you sent in plus stuff they want to see. Remember this, they are looking to see if you have a true marriage. Since you have so much joint things already that will probably proof enough. The tickets and photos visiting in laws is great.

Just be calm, they will ask you to swear to tell the truth, etc. and then proceed with their questions. Show them that you are a loving and devoted couple with plans for the future and how much everyone recognizes you are a couple. It will be fine.

Most of my readings have shown that these agents of the USCIS are the best. They deal with the people face to face unlike the faceless ones in the regional service centers.

When my wife and I attended the interview we did not have anything held jointly because she didn't have a social security number yet. But the photos of our trip to visit my daughter and new granddaughter were good enough proof. It is up to you and hubby to show your love of each other. I haven't heard of them asking intimate details.

You seem very well prepared, relax and it will go well.

be yourself & be honest the interview experience is not as threatening or intimidating as it may seem.

Most IO's are politwe and professional and are not there to intimidate those who are legit.

They are there to HELP you, go in there with a smile , afterall this is the beggining of a beautiful new Journey your about to enter.

try to rest before the interview , leave plenty of time to get there early at least 15-20 min.

you are prepared and that will show the IO that your are serious & Legit.

Remember this a an experience to celebrate, Congrats & Good Luck to you, your husband & your Cat :)

You will do fine!

You have more than enough and when we went for the interview we were not asked for any original documents like birth certificate etc. The interviewer was only interested in joint documets like bank statements, utility bills and insurance etc. and asked if he could make a copy - I told him he could keep it (I had copies at home.) Don't worry - you are good to go. Good Luck

I have been chain smoking for the last 3 hours scouring the web for info. What should I bring to my interview? We are driving to florida to spend xmas with my parents. I have lots of pictures but thats about it right now and am very nervous.....

Yeah, FedEx just brought in my international birth certificate, so we are all set. Phew. :)

@ Debss: Some people don't have enough time to gather a lot of bills, sometimes interviews come up so fast. It took us a long time to convince Sprint to put me on the bill as well. I am sure the officers are aware of those facts!!!! Don't worry, you have pictures and I guess greeting cards, maybe a lease?

Thanks, Anna
