I am just wondering how long does it take to get an AOS approval (without the EAD)? We're kind of nervous because there's already a job waiting for me January 2007, the employer is asking when i can start. We only applied for AOS because we were advised in another forum that EAD is just a waste of money, because AOS approval usually comes first than EAD. Now we're having regrets. Our case was transferred to CSC & i will be having my biometrics on 12/19/06 (tommorow). Will my waiting game be too long????

Here's my timeline:

Request for Initial Evidence - Nov 1,2006

Sent Request for Initial Evidence - Nov 2,2006

Notice of Receipt for Initial Evidence - Nov 6 2006

Case Transferred to CSC - Nov 24,2006

Notice of Transfer to CSC - Nov 27,2006

Biometrics Appointment - Dec 19,2006

If your biometrics appt is scheduled for tomorrow it will be at least 30 45 days before your interview,

Your RFE delayed your case a bit as well, in addition to NOV/DEC being Year end Holiday Months A great deal of Govt. offices

are staffed lighter due to vacations ect..

However some people have received GC inside of 4 months.

Whoever said EAD is a waste was not entirely correct.

EAD typically takes 90 days where as GC can take anywhere from 4-6 months. Now sometimes people will EAD was a waste of their $$ on an individual case, for soem EAD was a waste , that all depends on specific cases and needs.

For example my wife did not intend on working or traveling prior to us receiving our GC so EAD was not neccesary , we could have saved that money and waited for GC.

However in your case , activly seeking employment you needed the EAD and that is what it is for, those who are in the AOS process can apply for EAD to obtain employment, DL, ect.. while waiting for GC.

I would call your potential employer and let them know you are very interested in the position. keep them inofmred of your USCIS process

Good Luck

Of course you can, however at this point you could more likely get your interview & GC prior to receving your EAD however since most of your informations has been submitted it may expidite the process, I wouod schedule an INFOPASS APPT> & Ask .

If you do apply now include a cover letter with your AOS receipt Numbers , that way the USCIS can cross reference that and possible process you in a timely manner to receive your EAD card.

Good Luck
