How To Proceed After NVC Sends Petition To Consulate

Im unsure on how to proceed. I recently received letter from the National Visa Center stating they have forwarded the approved petition to the US Consulate in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. We have filled and sent out form DS-160 as it states to do so. My question now is, how do we proceed to schedule ASC appointment and Medical exam? I have made an account with https://usvisa-info.com/ and paid the $240 fee, do I wait for US Consulate to contact us before setting up an ASC appointment and also, does US consulate schedule date for actual interview or is that on our end?

The reason I ask is because I tried setting an ASC appointment this week in Guadalajara which is the closest city to where my fiancee lives, but it only had the option to have it in Mexico City or Ciudad Juarez. The earliest date available to schedule an appointment was December 16; which brings me to the question if the US Consulate were to schedule interview date would that be in the month of December possibly January to give us enough time to schedule ASC appointment?

Thanks in advance for your help.

-Andres

You will need the letter from Juarez for your ASC, medical and interview. It would typically take CDJ about 4-6 weeks to send you one. However, someone recently posted that they received theirs about a week after CDJ received their case. Not sure if it was a fluke or they are sending them out faster now.

The consulate schedules nothing for you. You will choose your interview date first, and that is why it will only let you choose Juarez. Once you schedule that, you may find that there will be limited appointments available for the ASC that will work with your interview schedule.

If you still have not received the letter by the time you have to go to Juarez, then you can go to the information window at the consulate before going to your appoints and medical, and they can print one out for you. The problem with then choosing the ASC in your own town before receiving the letter is that you will need that letter for the ASC appointment. Some have been able to do the ASC without it, but you will need to call the ASC center and ask. Some were not allowed to without that letter.

"Jay-Kay", thanks for answering that. I really appreciate it. Can you clarify third paragraph:

"If you still have not received the letter by the time you have to go to Juarez, then you can go to the information window at the consulate before going to your appoints and medical, and they can print one out for you. Wont I need the letter to schedule before I to Juarez?

The letter is not required to schedule the interview and ASC appointment. However, it is needed when you actually go to the medical, ASC and interview. So, if you want to schedule the ASC appointment in your hometown before going to Juarez for the medical and interview, then you will need to wait for that letter to make sure you have it before you schedule a definitive date for the appointment. IF you scheduled everything to take place in Juarez, and had not received the letter yet, then you could get the letter printed out at the consulate info window before going to your medical and appointments.

Just for reassurance, if we do not receive any type of notification after the sixth week; is it safe to go ahead and schedule appointments and go to consulate to get "letter" in order to attend the ASC/Medical appointment, and Consulate Interview? If so, what would fiancee need to obtain the letter? Also, what else would she need for the Consulate Interview? I have sent her copy of I-129F accompanied with original documantation, I-134 affidavit of support form with supporting documents. She has valid passport, passport photos, and Police Certificate that she got in March 2013; would that still be valid or will she need a more current dated one?

Thanks again for all your help.

If you had received your case # from the NVC and were told it was sent to CDJ already, then it won't take 6 weeks for them to receive it. However, it can take 4-6 weeks to receive the letter after CDJ sends it. You can use this website to see when CDJ has your case. It will tell you it is "Ready". That means it is at the consulate and ready for interview. https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?

I believe the police certificates are good for one year.
