The best comment I received on FB was "I unfortunately can't go, since unlike libs, I work during the day."

I tried to explain to that person how that statement made ZERO SENSE... but it just didn't work.

I'm sure the lineup that went to Walmart were all liberals with no jobs. That's Sarah Palin's target audience. Or something.

My next door neighbors still have a McCain/Palin sign in their yard.

Some dreams die hard I guess, just like the folks who still have Rommney/Ryan stickers all over their cars.

I know, if you follow the lines of logic that spew out that's where you get to. It's bizarre.

It wasn't a smart move, it was a move driven by desperation that spectacularly backfired. A smart move would have been to pick a politically astute woman from the Republican aisle, that might have swung it for him, but Palin? Beggars belief really.

Remember in the beginning the surge his party got? That was from her. On paper and on the eyes, it gave his platform a brief boost in the polls. Once the work actually started, that's when it went pete tong wrong.

Sarah Palin is the slightly less offensive, slightly less troll-like version of Ann Coulter.

They are both dumb as rocks, but the old white men on the other side just love them.

I know, but a surge means nothing, hence it wasn't a smart move. A politically astute woman might not have caused a sudden upswing but might have pushed the numbers up sustainably and enough for him to win. The main problem with McCain was that he was seen as unstable, old and a bit prone to angry outbursts and needed someone solid and younger as a counterbalance. Palin only ticked one box, young.

Anyone who is old, white and hates the Democrats automatically ADORES Sarah Palin. Seriously.

She came to Walmart here to sign some books a couple days ago (yes.. a book signing at Walmart when there's a Barnes & Noble right down the street... I guess she knows her fans don't ACTUALLY read) and they show a picture of the lineup waiting to see her. Mostly old white men.

Our local news station, whose page I have 'liked' on FB, posted about her arrival. And I made a comment, which I forget now... and had easily 10 people respond to it and tell me I hated Palin simply because she was a woman. Out of those 10 people, 9 were old white men. The other 1 was a woman telling me I didn't like Palin because Palin loves Jesus. I guess her new book is about Jesus. I dunno.

She proved time and time again that politics just simply is not her thing. She's never shown a basic understanding of it, especially on the national stage. And yet people still flock to her. Amazing indeed.

Yes I will agree with that. I had the same feeling about GWB - both of them tried to gloss over their lack of knowledge with charisma (Palin the Soccer mom, Bush the guy you'd have a beer with) but ask them a question on a political issue and it became very obvious that they didn't know what they were talking about, falling back on party political talking points and offering nothing of their own. More cardboard cutout politicians with other people behind them pulling the strings.

They could both be very nice people outside of politics but neither were cut out for it.

I agree, he needed more substance and got a truck load of style.

This used to be said on VJ all the time. Now since so many resident republicans are on gov. assistance, they shut up about it. But it used to be "I am the only one who works around here!"

For what it's worth... Sarah Palin had a reality show on TLC and it was a total guilty pleasure of mine. I actually found her and her family to be quite enjoyable people when it had nothing to do with politics. But I'll watch anything, so what do I know..

As I recall McCain offered no clear policy platform and couldn't distinguish himself from the likes of Bush/Cheney. Neither did Obama to be fair - when he talked about change he offered no more specifics than that "change" meant not Bush/GOP. Of course, public feeling at the time was so negative that that's all he needed. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I voted for McCain because of his military background, and he at least ran a clean race IMO.

Palin's barhop slopping beer in a dive routine is past irritating and No1 should compare debt burden to slavery. It's face palm stupid & reprehensible. Palin should apologize.

Bashir should take a job as a "Jerry Springer". He's NOT a journalist. He's a hack.
