I would have loved to comment on the article had you posted the right one to begin with, instead of another link to the ACA, which you clearly are obsessed with.

Martin Bashir stepped over the line, he's lucky to still have a job. Now, you can go back to professing your love for ACA.

Bashir was way out of line on this yet there are many who just can't admit it because they agree with him politically. I really appreciate that you aren't like that.

It's got less to do with politics than what is acceptable content for broadcast news media. Of course as a political commentator for a US network news channel the rules are a bit different and you can get away with a lot of things that would be deemed inappropriate or unprofessional in straight journalism. Apparently this crossed a line.

If you sink to that level, you've already lost the battle. Politically, I'm for whoever makes the most sense with a equal does of compassion. Actually he said that someone should "take a s**t in her mouth" It was not a mistake, it was not said in a fit of anger, it was written, sunmitted to MSNBC and he read his "speech" off a teleprompter. That you are uninformed does not make it OK. What makes it OK is...

Actually, he didn't. What he said was, if anyone was a candidate for a historrical punishment meted out by racists, it is Palin due to her paltry understanding of history and inability to apply it's lessons to the modern day. That you and others are unable to distinguish the difference is of course no surprise. Such a statement, however ludicrous is not evidence of sexism or that Democrats hate women, that you can't understand why comes as no surprise. As I said, your argument is the same is supposing that people who call Obama an idiot hates men. It's a spurious and nonsensical argument.

I actually agree with what Bashir said. Of course, I don't agree that it's appropriate content for the news (such as 'news' is defined on the show that Bashir works for).

There's a definite difference in style between news media in the US Vs. UK. News anchors and political commentators in the UK generally don't say this kind on thing on TV. You might get it on Question Time or Have I Got News For You, but then it's obvious that the people on those shows are representing themselves (and the opinions are their own). There is noone trying to tie the views of the individual to the views of the organisation that they work for (and by extension the political party they represent by virtue of editorial bias).

Bashir worked for the BBC - so to me, this has a lot to do with differences in editorial controls. US media (in general) errs more on the side of sensationalism, I guess sometimes it goes a little too far.

It's not an issue of not agreeing with her, it's that she clearly doesn't know what she's talking about. Why she is still seen as an authority on anything, given her atrocious interview performance and tabloid approach to family life, is amazing to me.

She came to Walmart here to sign some books a couple days ago (yes.. a book signing at Walmart when there's a Barnes & Noble right down the street... I guess she knows her fans don't ACTUALLY read) and they show a picture of the lineup waiting to see her. Mostly old white men.

Our local news station, whose page I have 'liked' on FB, posted about her arrival. And I made a comment, which I forget now... and had easily 10 people respond to it and tell me I hated Palin simply because she was a woman. Out of those 10 people, 9 were old white men. The other 1 was a woman telling me I didn't like Palin because Palin loves Jesus. I guess her new book is about Jesus. I dunno.

Her book is allegedly about how the Christian Christmas is under threat in the US linking that threat to Democrats and politics in her usual fuzzy logic fashion. Yeah, I get that her appeal has nothing to do with politics and I get how the ignorant can argue that anyone who thinks she's a political embarrassment does so because of misogyny because that's how it is, the ignorant blindly following the ignorant. Not much hope is there?

It wasn't a smart move, it was a move driven by desperation that spectacularly backfired. A smart move would have been to pick a politically astute woman from the Republican aisle, that might have swung it for him, but Palin? Beggars belief really.
