I see some applicants on VJ ask their congressman for help to move along their I130 or K3 applications. Is there an equivalent for those of us living abroad?

Forgive my question if it sounds a bit ignorant... I am a US citizen who has never lived in the US. Who would I contact to ask for assistance or to inquire about it? the congressman of the city I was born in?

Thanks

No congressman can move anything along., They can inquire and usually get the same information you are given.

Good question what address in the US do you have as where you will live when you come here? You could notify them. Don't be surprised if you get no help but you may.

Also I see your timeline and until you are well past the processing times, which I believe is like over 8 months time. They will not inquire or help you because you are still well within normal processing times. Right now USCIS is saying 12 to 16 months. Could be less but thats how it is now. Just thought you should know.

Congressmen do not move anything along. They can only shake some trees to see what falls loose if your case falls through the cracks and you're well outside current processing times.

Non-US residents are pretty much out of luck in this department. They like to help constituents and voters.
