Eid al Adha

Eid al Adha seems to have been forgotten with all the Christmas talk.

Is everyone planning on getting a sheep/lamb?

Any recipes to share? Any boulfaf fans?

I nearly forgot about Eid el Adha. I just remembered it this morning. I don't have to work for Eid this time around...woot!!

We didn't forget it... in fact, it is our hope and our tentative plan to marry that day and celebrate Eid al Adha & New Years as husband & wife. We will start our new year w/ our new life together.

Our plans don't include a lamb feast that day, but I'll probably prepare a lamb tagine or lamb roast for New Year's day, along w/ the traditional american stuff... blackeyed peas & cabbage.

We remembered! We are planning on sharing a lamb with our married friends. I think she and I will cook the lamb after our husbands slaughter it. I'm not quite sure if that's really going to happen or not, but that's what the talk is now.

I remember my first experience with Eid al Adha. Wadi and I were in Italy. I woke up one morning to the smell of meat cooking. It was like 8 o'clock in the morning or something and I thought Wadi had gone crazy. I thoroughly enjoyed eating chunks of lamb for breakfast - that's my kind of day!

I'm not Muslim, but I hope to be with my fiance and his family in Morocco for the Eid. It will be a learning experience for me. I also look forward to hearing how different folks observe it in the USA since we hope he will be living here next year and we don't know if we'll be able to visit his family for the next one. Good topic.

I will find a good one and pass it along. The trick with goat, I've found, is how you cook it. It can have a smell that is unpleasant, but cooked fresh, and right, it is soooo delicious. somewhere between chicken and beef, but better than both!

I'll be in Cairo for Eid. Can't wait to see how they celebrate. Usama plans on walking with me for Fajr prayer to his favorite mosque. We'll have gotten married about 4 days before it so we'll still be celebrating that as well.

I think almost everyone remembered..... I wish I was in Morocco for the new year.... not this year but next year... that would be awesome... Rachid and I don't have plans as of yet...
