Super sad and anxious....after everything was going so well it seems that we will have a mayor bump in this journey. Apparently there is an issue with my fiance's last name....this may take a few months and I am afraid it will not be ready on time for our interview. Does anyone know how would I go about postponing my interview date? I do not want to loose it, but I am terrified at the thought of not being able to do something on time. Any info will help! Thanks VJ Fam!

Why can't you at least go through with interview and if there's more documents to be needed you can submit.? With DR it could be forever to get an interview. I would go with what you have. All they can do is say come back when you have fixed it.

What is the issue with name you came this far with the name as is?

My fiance and his brother had a last name change years ago (their father was declared with his maiden last name, hence their last name defaulted to that). Before they could request a cedula or even start school their dad changed their last names to the correct one. The problem is their father never made the changes to his own certificate.

So all of my fiance's documents figure with the correct last name, but recently when my brother in law requested his BC to get married in DR, the BC came out with the incorrect last name (the one issued to them at birth). So apparently the correction has been swiped our of the system or some bizarre ####### which only happens in DR.

Now the problem is that my fiance needs an updated BC for all the things we need to get done....and he needs his passport. He has faith he can go to another town Romana or the Capital and he will get a correct BC (because apparently everyone in SPM with similar situations is having this problem).

But I want to prepare for the worst case scenario.....in that case I doubt I can go to the interview with no passport...I really don't know...I need some guidance :( :(

mama, u might have enough time...

i mean, it shouldnt be more than 2 months for that corrected BC. have him do that, go to a different town or the capital to get that straighted out. i know its easier said than done going to the capital con to ese trote de alla pero he needs to try! i say, dont change ur date until they tell EXACTLY how long this will take!

im sorry for this bump in the road! just think, people have gone through worse!! cray5ol.gif

Definativamente Keep the Interview Date!! Everything will work out in surprisingly fast time and in God's hands Miracles appear!!!

And if by chance you do still need something you can EASILY send it back via DOMEX (They will give you a paper to include that tracks it and connects it to your case!) Don't worry if you don't have all your paperwork they won't keep your passport... you have to send it back with whatever they are requesting.

Please make sure he gets Nacimiento In Extensa!!!! NOT Extracto!! We had to resend ours back because my Fiancee did not say "In Extensa".. he asked for "the one he needs for the Embassy appointment".. He's gonna learn to trust his Woman one way or the other! jajajaja it also must be "legalized" too (an additional charge)

~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Caribbean regional subforum -- topic involves the Dominican Republic. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
