I-130 and Tourist Visa

Background: I was born in the U. S. and reside in the U. S. My wife was born in China and resides in China. We were married in China on August 28, 2013. I filed an I-130 petition September 13, 2013. My wife is in her upper 40’s and I am in my lower 60’s. My wife has a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, and I have a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering.

There are various programs throughout the world where one can volunteer one’s time to organizations to do beneficial work. My wife and I would like to volunteer in one of these programs in Canada for a few months. We are concerned that she might be denied a travel visa to Canada. This leads to the ultimate concern that applying for a travel visa to Canada might make her immigration to the U. S. more difficult.

We have been unable to find out if rejection of an application to Canada for a travel visa would have any negative implications for our I-130. Can anyone help with information or have an idea about how we could learn about this?

I do not think that a denied visa to Canada should be a problem.
