Hello,

I'm obviously new to the forum but have been reading information on DCF in London for the last few days. I have to say, it's been an incredibly useful help.

A little background on us:

Him: US Citizen by birth

Her: UK Citizen

We met 3 years ago while I (He) was studying abroad for a year. I have been in the UK since last September on a student visa and have thankfully just finished my Master's degree. We got engaged this summer and are getting married on Dec. 7 in the UK.

I'm nearly 100% certain we qualify for DCF once we get married but we have 1 small question. I, the USC, just received a really great job offer back home and will be leaving the UK on Dec. 18. That only gives us 11 days of marital bliss before I have to ship off. We're hoping to file the I-130 petition in the days immediately following the wedding but are wondering if me, the petitioner, leaving the UK so quickly will impact on our application.

I was actually thinking it could help as it's strong proof that domicile will be established in the US, but that could be totally wrong. Will it be okay for the petitioner to be outside the UK once the first petition has been filed? Many thanks in advance.

The timelines won't matter but doing everything in the right order does. It sucks that you have to depart so soon after your wedding but, on the other hand, it speeds up the process for getting the two of you together again in the US. You do qualify for DCF since you have been in the UK for more than 6 months. I found the London Embassy route to be very smooth with just minor hiccups. I think the fact that you will have re-established your domicile rather than having to establish intent to do so will be helpful.

Best wishes

Laura

That's great news!dancin5hr.gif I've started to go through all the forms. On the G-325A (Bio Information), because we both have just been though university, we both have more than 5 previous addresses over the last 5 years and there's not enough room on the form to give all the information. What's the procedure for this? Finish it on a separate page and place it behind the G-325A?

We have a question regarding question 22 on the I-130 form. There doesn't seem to be any consensus on the forums as to what you should do.

The question is "Complete the information below if your relative is in the United States and will apply for adjustment of status."

My first thought was, 'Well, she's not in the US so skip the whole question.'

Then I looked on the sample I-130 that the embassy provides and it appears they left the first part blank and then put London, UK for the second part, even though it appears in the sample that the petitioner and beneficiary are both in the UK.

So, for the second part: "If your relative is not eligible for adjustment of status, he or she will apply for a visa abroad at the American consular post in:"...do I just put London, United Kingdom?

We followed London's example form with no issue. So yes, put London in the second bit for the consular location. I think I put N/A in the first bit.

Thanks so much for your help. Also, on the G-325A, Bio Info, next to the signature part at the bottom, should we tick "other" and then specify it as, "I-130 Petition for Alien Relative"?

The question is:

This form is submitted in connection with an application for:

- Naturalization

- Status as Permanent Resident

- Other (Specify)

Yeah. We ticked other then squeezed in I-130 for CR-1 or something. Doesnt matter too much.
