Hello. My british fiance had his interview in London October 22nd which I also attended! While we were there we were told his visa was successful! Happy days!
They kept his passport and various other documents and told us to expect the visa in the post in about 10 days. Well it's now been nearly 1 month since the interview and we still haven't received anything in the post. We're both so frustrated and worried. and to think we spent £30 for this courier service!
Has anyone else experienced this? We can't find a single number to contact at all. Phoning the embassy directly just takes us in circles and tells us to check the website. All their website does is give us an email that we have tried and waiting for a response to. I hate this :(

The only real contact for London is this form http://london.usembassy.gov/niv/visa_contact_form.html

To check your case status use https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=WwjqOlbeRYzCYubaSQI+RA==

Unless it says "issued" your visa is still pending with the embassy and the courier is not at fault. Most are issued within a few days and the visa is delivered within a week of the interview.

Some are put into a long administrative processing (AP) for additional security clearance. In London those are usually applicants not born in the UK, especially from India, Pakistan, Middle East. Or even those with parents from those countries or who frequently travel there. It also happens to those with Muslim connections or Muslim names. It happens if your name is the same as a suspected terrorist. It can happen even if the interviewer told you "approved".

If your case is in the longer AP, the embassy will not tell you how much longer or what they are checking. They will not tell your Congressman either. They are pretty secretive when it come to doing the additional security checks. Do you fit any of the above profiles?
