AFTER receiving my NOA2, I emailed NVC with my petition number as the subject line and my name and dob and my fiances name and dob in the body of the email to nvcinquiry@State.gov. They replied in 7 business days with my case number. It seems better than staying on hold for an hour. Good luck!

I do not understand. What is the significance of the case number? Also, when i read the NOA2, it seems to say the case has been sent to the consulate...Why does it not say that the case has been sent to NVC? It also says to contact the consulate if we have questions about visa issuance. "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate" There is no mention of NVC. Is that normal? :D Am i supposed to assume it has been first sent to the NVC? idea9dv.gif ??

Wow, congrats sis for approval in only 15 days,dancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gifdancin5hr.gif . The case number is the key you log on CEAC and see your visa status application. In fact, it is very important for further steps for your K-1 visa application. If you check on USCIS website it says," We shipped this approved petition to Department of State for visa processing".

Post Decision Activity

On October 17, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

yes we call NVC and DOS almost every day but they say the case is not in NVC yet

hope it will change tomorrow

you waited for NOA2 for 8 months? DOMA broke down in June this year so it means you applied before DOMA break down?
