Can anyone please post your experience (again if necessary) in having Chicago POE? I'm searching for discussion of it and cannot find it now. I'm a little bummed b/c JFK was supposed to be the POE but now it's going to be Chicago and 1) he can't get temp. EAD there :( and 2) I think I remember hearing it was a tough POE on several folks. I'm also a bit bummed b/c I have a connection in JFK's Immigration & Customs who was going to help speed the process up by sending an agent for him and getting him to the front of the line so there would be minimal waiting. :blush: I don't know anyone in Chicago.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so excited that he'll be here this week (L) , but my bubble is burst a little b/c of POE change :crying: . :help: Please share your experiences so I know a little more of what to expect.

Thanks so much....

Noura

Hi Noura! So happy you and Said will be together shortly! Khallid went through Chicago and had a rough time, BUT this was also in August with everyone going on with those potiental bombings. They looked through his wallet, saw pics of his sisters and kept drilling him that they were his other wives, asked him point blank if he was a terrorist (and a real terrorist would say yes?) and drilled him for about 1 hour. :angry: I think this was mainly due to what was going on at the time, because his was the first bad experiance I had heard of. I'm sure everything is fine going through Chicago now though!

We landed in Chicago. Wes had turned in the packet in Dublin so we didn't do immigration there. But we had to do customs and it was pain. The place is huge and the staff is rude.

this is what I thought I remembered hearing :help::( . I hope someone else will come along w/ a rosy story of Chicago (not holding my breath on that one!). Hopefully, it will be relatively smooth. Thanks for your input.

Mohammed's POE was Chicago. He had no trouble at all and he says everyone was nice to him. So I guess it's just a matter of who you get and what kind of day they are having. It did take 3 hours from landing til he came out due to many international planes landing at the same time.

I can give you a rosy story about ORD as I have been through there many times but my experience is not from a "visitor" or "intended immigrant" POV.

I'm sorry, I don't understand this reply.... ORD is Chicago? He will not be a visitor, but entering on K1 visa. So, I don't get it... maybe I just haven't had my coffee yet.

Chicago has more than one airport.....

ORD = Chicago O'Hare International Airport

MDW = Chicago Midway Airport

If you read beyond "visitor" and read "Intended immigrant" which would cover K-1 arrivals.

Yes, I did read that, nonetheless, you shared no experience - but thanks anyway... and yes, obviously since this is an int'l flight it would be thru the int'l airport. Having no experience whatsoever w/ Chicago, I didn't know the airport code there. Forgive me for not knowing everything already. Thanks!

O'Hare is just huge and maybe even busier than JFK, and next week is the busiest time, I flew out once to Italy during this time and they had to keep de-icing the plane and it took forever to beable to take off, The weather can slow flights landing and leaving. BUT I do not mean any of this as a real negative- its just things you should be prepared for. Layovers, connecting flights etc.

PS It's great news to hear he is coming! :dance::dance::dance:

haha ok. I have no idea what thread you are even talking about. I just don't understand why your response to this person was so rude when he was trying to actually help you.
