I-129F Case Transfered from TSC to CSC. What is the approximate time it takes to get to NVC?

Hello, all.

My fiancée phoned NVC (603-334-0700) today to inquire status of our case. She was told that NVC has not received it yet and that it may take up to 8 weeks.

A few questions:

  • Would any of you know the current trend for NVC to receive cases from CSC? Does it really take 8 weeks for USCIS to send a case to NVC and then for NVC to send to the local consulate?
  • Is there another number to contact NVC? Or DOS, perhaps? My fiancée was on hold for quite some time and I was hoping that some of you might know a faster way to get connected with someone.
  • Is NVC the agency who issues the case number to be used on the CEAC website?
  • Has any of you ever started filling out DS-160 online while still waiting for a case number? I was hoping to start the application to make sure I have enough time gathering all the required information.

Cheers and thanks in advance!

Yes, 8 weeks seems the average these days. It used to be a lot quicker, but, then again, the wait for the NOA2 used to be several months.

Technically, the embassy assigns the case number, but it's given to the NVC first - probably done in a semi-automated fashion, so the NVC is your source for the number.

You can certainly practice the ds-160, but I think you need the case number before you can submit it.

Not sure about CSC times, as I went through Texas, but you can go online to the USCIS to check the status of your case. It normally changes to shipped to tell you it's on the way to the NVC. The transit takes a few days. i think it shipped out from USCIS on the 7th Nov and arrived the 14th Nov, but there was a government holiday on the Monday and a weekend so that would have delayed the transit. Hope that helps.

Removal of Conditions..  TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK

Time to reset the tick tock clock again.   Roll my eyes.
