So i got approved last week, got my waybill this weekend and I am going to book my flight for the end of month.

I am planning to fly from winnipeg, which has a US PoE at the airport, I assume like most Canadian airports.

Should I be planning anything for this apart from my package from the consulate ? My flight will be 8 am, i will try and get there for 6:30am, that should be enough time right ?

AH something I forgot to mention, I am flying via Toronto, I assume PoE would be at winnipeg ?

There is a POE in Winnipeg, here is the only review on that POE: http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php?poe=Winnipeg,+Canada&dfilter=0

You should be prepared to answer any questions the USCBP asks such as the fact that they need to confirm that address you will be living at as they need to send the package on to after you enter. They may ask other questions so be prepared to answer them. I believe that the POE will be in Winnipeg even though you are traveling through Toronto, because I assume that you would be on the American side when you land in Toronto. If I am wrong could someone please correct. And yes have the package from the Consulate. Also it is often suggested to not book the flight until the visa is in hand, so when you book the flight ask or research if you can switch it for another flight if the visa does not return to you on time for the flight. Hope this helps you. Good luck the rest of your journey.

Hi,

I actually spoke to CBP at winnipeg on the phone and they informed me that I would have to do this in Toronto. All US Preclearance checks are done at the airport that you arrive at before entry to the US. Which makes sense, the initial flight is deemed internal. Also told me to allow for a couple of hours turn around @ Toronto, which I have.

Thats a good piece of information to know for people flying from preclearance airports but are going domestic first.
