Does a co-sponsor have to submit a tax return too or can 3 or 4 pay stubs be sufficient information? I mean his letter of employment and pay stubs show information that he's well above the poverty line especially on his year to date.

Yes the joint sponsor needs to submit tax transcripts or returns. 3 or 4 paychecks and an employee letter is not sufficient.

hi,

all have to send taxes, the same as the sponsor. USC and LPR are supposed to pay taxes. immigration requires that you send taxes to see if you have made above the 125% over the poverty guidelines

why?

You need to start you own thread. Don't hijack someone else's.

My co-sponsor is paranoid about his SSN and has had me black it out and refuses to submit any other way. So we're ultimately worried this could get us denied due to not showing the SSN, but we are showing EVRYTHING else.

This is a subject where it would be a good idea to apply the advise or you will be back here reporting the problems.

mimolicious is correct.

First transcripts are best but returns are ok as long as every supporting doc is sent as well. Your co sponsor has to submit the docs required to prove they not only filed taxes but have paid those taxes. This can not be done with returns.

Your co sponsor is simply ignorant of the process. Everything submitted goes to the U S govt. The same govt that issued the S S number for example so there is no reason to think they will abuse the info. Blacking out info may be allowed but if it isn't you will be issued an RFE which will add at least two months to the case. All of that to provide what we all know is required anyway.
