WOW some of the things people think?? When a airline is checking in passengers TSA does not have time to look at the bag tag to see who it belongs to. The only time your bag is searched is when the xray can not determine what an item is. Then the bag is opened and item looked at. Guns are legal to carry in checked bag as are other weapons. Now a bowling ball will cause your bag to be opened as the xray can not see thru it. GET THE PICTURE?? So if you are carrying something that shows up on the screen obpeke it will be searched and looked at.

This. They don't know who the bag belongs to or whether that person is applying for a visa or not when they open it. If yours gets opened a lot, I would get a new bag. Something about it must be difficult to x-ray. Or you carry weird stuff in your bag, like lots of electronics (think of a ball of wires).

I've traveled overseas 6 times in last 16 months, never had my bag opened. (I'm probably due for a checkdry.png ) But then again, I carry most of the electronics with me as carry-on items. The portable printer often gets a second, third, and forth look, then they check out the person (me) that is collecting the items they just Xrayed. I think if my printer were in the checked baggage, the bag might be opened to get closer TSA examination.

My bags always get checked. I carry clothing and a small makeup case. I don't even check large amounts of liquids or gels because I am obviously Muslim and I don't like to invite suspicion or unwarranted searches.

My bag is searched. Every time. Without fail.

My boarding passes are marked "SSSS" which I was told stands for "selective screening". Only one person told me what it meant everyone else feigned ignorance. So they do absolutely select certain people for screening.

I'm not really keen on men going through my unmentionables. :(
