I-134 & London Questions

Hello.

I'm going to get my fiance to fill out the I-134 one day next week and have a couple of questions.

His job earns above the 125% poverty line, both before and after taxes (not sure which is counted). However, he has held it since July so by the time the interview rolls around he won't have made above the poverty line yet. Will we need a co-sponsor? His brother is able to co-sponsor if we do, I would just prefer that we don't have to do extra paperwork.

I have heard that the London embassy is quite relaxed regarding financial details. At the moment, we are planning on him filling out the I-134, bringing a signed letter from his boss stating where he is employed, his salary and his position (this is scanned, not an ink signature if that is acceptable) and printouts of his wage slips. We cannot bring his most recent tax returns as he made nowhere near the poverty line at his last job. Do you think this is ok or will we run into problems?

A job above the poverty level qualifies. It's not about counting up pay slips until he gets to that level. It is what does the job pay in a years time. Prove it with the employer letter and pay slips. I think it should be the original signed in ink letter as the best practice, but maybe they would be okay with a scan. Where is the original? Why can't he mail that?

Bring his job contract and two or more recent pay stubs, including the most recent. The contract should show that this is not a temporary job, and the pay stubs will show consistent income. The most recent pay stub will show YTD earnings. They only care what he currently makes and the likelihood that he'll keep making it.

Showing a recently acquired full-time job with an annual income expected to be well above 125% of the federal poverty guideline should be fine.

Thank you very much Eases my mind somewhat.

It is scanned because its what he had to send when he leased his current apartment, not entirely sure where the original is. I will look into getting another one done with a fresh signature.

Anyone know how recent the employer letter needs to be? I have one from October 31, 2013, and the interview will probably be in Feb or March 2014...should it be more recent?

I'd say you're fine as long as you bring a more recent pay stub.
