You need to find a different surgeon from the approved list, you do not need the full medical.

Sounds like they are saying you now need EAD to get SSN, which is normal, SSN can be applied for shortly after entry but before Marriage, some people have managed to get them later.

Do not leave! Just get everything together and submit as soon as you can.

You will most likely be positive to a skin test, I am. But the X Ray is another issue.

I had to call quite a few Panel Doctors before I found one that would just do the signature and not the full medical.

We were able to get her SSN after we got married and even got the card in her new name. We brought her I-94, passport, and marriage certificate. The clerk was able to verify her name in the system. Then she used our application, which had 'Other names used' filled out with her maiden name. 3 days later she got her card. We had not yet applied for AOS, EAD, etc.

Side note: K1 visa holders can get a SSN which states "allowed to work with DHS approval" (EAD card). You might bring a copy of this https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0110211530

How many days are left in her I-94? If you within 2 weeks of her 90 day period, the SSA will not issue the card. If she's been here 30 days, what they told you is wrong.
