I am waiting for my visa interview date for visa f2a because I am the wife of a permanent resident and 12 January 2014 will be the two years of our marriage and I heard k if the marriage has not reached two years we will give you a green card for two years before the expiry of the two years you will apply and they will give you 10 years. are true, but what if your wedding is more than 2 years or 2 years they will just give you 10 years of green card

hi

if you have been married 2 or more years at the time of the interview, you will receive the 10 year GC. the 2 year GC is only for marriages under 2 years to prove bonafide marriage.

that was because in the 80s and 90s and I can't remember when it started, many people would marry a USC get the 10 year GC and divorce the next day. This is now to try to reduce marriage fraud. It can't be stopped but maybe reduced a little bit.

When my mom filed for my stepdad in the 90's, he got automatically the 10 year GC having been married less than 2 years, only months married and she was a USC.
