Tavis Smiley: 'Black People Will Have Lost Ground in Every Single Economic Indicator' Under Obama

I ask the same question. If the Dems are so bad for us, what have the GOP done in the past for us? Were we doing better when Bush was in office?

The primary problem with the republican party is that they are so focused on individual responsibility as they put it, they can't think in terms of groups or communities.

Truth. I have no problem with hard work and responsibility. It's the hatred of who I am/who I worship. If they could go a solid week without insulting a minority demographic, I'd consider it.

"Done for us "done for us "done for us"-Jesus. 50 years of Democratic pandering has you conditioned to think like that?

Govt is not here to do for you. You nailed it..The Pubs have done nothing for black people. Are the pubs supposed to do something specifically for Blacks in order for you to approve or to get your vote..Think long and hard about that.

Has it really come to this in America that this is the mind set. Way to go, perpetuating the myth of the hobbled black.

I don't expect anyone but me to do anything for me. YOU talked about the Dems, and how they use us. I asked how the Repubs are any different and you insult me.

Your attitude is the EXACT reason minorities hate the GOP, it's a shame really.

So why does everyone ask what has the Dems done for us? Even you have said, what has the POTUS done for black america? Even Mr. Sheep below us highlights what the dems have done for us, so to speak. Yet, when the same question is asked on the GOP side, not one person can answer.

Most black voters switched to the Democratic Party in the 1930s when the New Deal offered them employment opportunities, and major figures, such as Eleanor Roosevelt, began to support civil rights. They became one of the core components of the New Deal Coalition. In the South, blacks were able to vote in large numbers after 1965, when a bipartisan coalition passed the Voting Rights Act, and ever since have formed a significant portion (20–50%) of the Democratic vote in that region.

You can't have it both ways, if you want to talk about what the dems do for us, it goes the same way for the GOP.

Dude, there's a word for you. But I think you know that already.

I don't say what have the parties done for you. I said Blacks are worse off under Obama than previous administrations. The Dems are doing to blacks, what America did to Indians.

And I ask again, what would the GOP do, if the Dems are so bad?

At least you tried.

I don't need anything from the government. Nor does a lot of people I know. I just find it interesting that minorities that vote Democrat get told how stupid we are, yet when the question about the GOP comes up, no says anything.

I'd rather have the truth any day, but try this:

I'd said it once and I'll say it again, you can't call someone ugly and then ask them to the dance.
