Here's something else to think about: you say that she is completing a degree to become a teacher? Will she want to teach in public schools in the US? If so, it's much better for her to finish her schooling in the US, even if it takes an extra year or so. It's a long and expensive process to get a teaching certification if you were educated outside of the country, and degrees granted abroad aren't always seen as equal to those in the US. If she finishes a teacher education program in the US, she will be able to become certified to teach immediately upon graduation.

Met in Canada, both moved to South Korea to be teachers! ❤️

Yeah, has she even checked if any of her degree credits will transfer?? I doubt it... Unless she can test into upper division French courses at an American university I don't see a degree, even from UG, that would easily transfer to the US... too many loopholes, too many differences in the schooling, just too different. I've known/am friends with three people from Ghana that got degrees in computer science, pharmacology, and nursing where their respective degrees meant NOTHING when they arrived here in America. All had to start from scratch. So I suggest having her or you look into that. Talk to local college advisors at the campus closest to you and see what they say. Good Luck!!!! If you do interview on the 5th I hope it goes well :) ours is about a week after yours :)

Postpone the interview and while you are waiting check into what is needed to teach in your state. My hubby is a veterinarian in his home country but to obtain his license in the US he would either have to go back to school or spend $6,000 to take a test that he probably wouldn't pass.

Even getting his college credits transferred is a nightmare. Right now he is working towards and associates degree and pretty much nothing transferred.

Thank you everyone for you support, input, advice, etc.

Abby and I have decided that we are going to continue with the interview. If she is approved and we are granted the Visa, then she will come to the US and we will get married in Dec. Then, we will apply for AP and if it's granted in time she may return for her final semester. If the AP doesn't arrive, then we will make the decision as to whether she should return or not. Maybe it's best that she finishes school here anyway.

If the interview doesn't go as planned and she doesn't get the visa immediately, or the process goes into the common administrative processing line, then we will try to delay her arrival into the US until after her semester concludes. I will update the thread with the results after the interview on December 5th.

Thanks again,

Nathan
