Okay, I need to some major advice!

I'm Canadian and my beneficiary and fiance is American. I am due any day now and am visiting the USA. If I go into labour in USA and have my child here, will it affect Montreal's decision to approve me? I was not pregnant when we first started the visa process, but got pregnant shortly after - it was not planned for sure, but we are happy nonetheless. The process is just taking longer than the pregnancy.

I am very worried and stressed that I won't get approved if my child were to be born here. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Steve and Hazel, relax, you can have a baby anywhere you want, that does not affect your process. Of course you have to let them know once the baby is born. In my experience Montreal is one of the best American consulate, you have the nicest people looking to help you not to deny or inconvenience you as long as all the paper work is straight forward there is nothing to worry. FYI my baby was born in US before I get the visa, almost same experience, enjoy and congrats to you too

Your baby is a US citizen regardless wheer you have him or her. Where you have your baby has no bearing on the decision to grant you a Visa. Stop worrying and concentrate on the miracle about to come forth. It is okay.

Just when you get back you have to file to get a US passport for your baby and all that fun CRIBA stuff. But focus on childbirth for now.

Oh by the way Congratulations.goofy.gif

And how are you going to pay for it. A normal hospital birth cost around $10.000.

If I were to go into labour while I'm visiting here, we'll have no choice but to pay for it out of pocket. Being a worrier, I called the hospitals in the Buffalo area, just in case I were to go into labour and some have payment plans.

Tomas.Fone, you have no idea how relieved I am to read this - I am literally almost going to cry (relief and pregnancy hormones lol). My question is, what paperwork did you present on interview day with regard to the baby?

Thank you so much again!!!

Thank you so much! I will TRY not to worry lol. This is my first baby, and the stress of the upcoming interview and where I'm going to end up giving birth is wearing on me. I know that stress is not good, though! :)

Awww sweetie please try to rest and take it easy. My daughter just had baby #5 3 weeks ago and as a grandma I tell yyou to relax. Here there no matter where you have baby. If you were to go into labor now and have in US most hospitals have programs setup so when you have no health insurance or whatever they may waive it or like you said let you make payments.

But just focus on that cute new baby coming that will chamge your life for the better forever.

Well it depends where your processing is now. When my baby was born my processing was at NVC, I e-mailed them the birth certificate immediately, on the same week I was advised that the process has been completed and sent to Montreal so I had to e-mail them as well, Just get their e-mail address keep them posted on the changes in your life. This is an added value for you, it shows how strong your relationship is and proves that you want to live in America.

ON interview day, there was no major question asked, most of the questions are listed here in VJ under embassy reviews, if you select Montreal you will see and they are similar (you can look for my reviews too). As long all the paper work straight forward and submitted properly, there is nothing to worry. Keep in mind that the people in the consulate are there to help you. trust me if you have this in mind, you'll be the one asking questions not them. So relax and enjoy now.
