Due to reasons beyond my will, I haven't been able to send the I-129F application. The California Service Center should review a RFE on my I-130 within the next week. Other than that, it seems the process is going just normal. That being, I would probably get an approval within the next two months. I'm definitely not sending the I-129F application until the first week of 2007, or at least that's my plan. If I do, I would get an approval approximately by the end of March or beginning of April, in a best case scenario.

So, at this point, should you suggest me to abandon the K-3 at all and wait for the I-130 approval and pursuit K-1/CR 1?

Thanks all!

You send the I-129F package in as soon as you nave the NOA1 Receipt letter from your I-130, you can mail it any time after NOA1 (9/29)

If you wait for approval of the I-130 you will be doing CR-1 visa not K-3.

Sounds like your I-130 is moving along nicely. Once an RFE is received, in general an approval comes soon after. The only hold up would be if it was still undergoing background/security checks. Then its off to NVC. The NVC process is approx 2-3 months. Depending on if you use James Shortcuts and again on any background/security checks. IMO, if you haven't yet and are not going to file the I-129F until early 2007, I would stick with the CR-1 path. You may however first like to check with the consulate as to wait times for interviews. Some consulates have long wait times for CR-1 as opposed to the K-3. Keep in mind that if you do decide to file the I-129F, once the CR-1 application is at the Consulate/Embassy, the K-3 is dead in the water as the CR-1 over-rides the K-3. My husbands I-130 petition was approved before we got a chance to file the I-129F, hence we dropped the idea of the K-3 path as it was pointless at that stage. Afterall the IR/CR-1 Immigrant Visa is the biggie.

Justo,

Can you explain to me what it is that you would hope to accomplish by submitting an I-129f petition for your wife come January?

Or are you thinking that you should submit an I-129f because all the other lemmings seem to be doing it?

Well, that's sort of my little dilemma. I just want to play it safe, but after readings some of the repplies here, I most probably just sit tight, hope and wait for I-130 to be approved. No point for K-3 after three months of I-130 NOA 1.
