Hi and Salaam,

So I am a little stressed about this whole procedures for a K1 visa. My fiance finally had his interview on Oct. 7th at the US Embassy in Kabul. His interview went very well and wasn't asked a lot of questions since I was there visitng him. One of the questions they had asked him was where is your fiance now and his answer was she is here waiting outside the embassy for me and after that they didnt' ask much questions. They gave him a yellow card and told him to drop off his medical exam reports once that was completed. After we received the results he turned in the results only. They had told him they will contact him and ask him to drop off his passport which was not collected at the time of the medical exam.

He just got an email the other day saying "The AP processing of your Special Immigrant Visa is al ost done. In order to complete the processing of your case, we request that you bring the following documets to the Embassy in Kabul as soon as Possible: Passport(S)"

My question is how long after this will they issue a visa? Also, why would it say Special Immigrant Visa, isn't this a visa for translators?

Any help would be greatly appreciate it!!!! Thanks!sad.png

We also received an email stating that his visa was ready for issuance. He dropped his PP off on Sunday, and said there were a lot of people there dropping off passports as well. I am thinking since there were so many dropping passports off, issuance of visa may take a little longer than usual. I have heard it normally takes 3 or 4 days, but could be up to 2 weeks.

Hi Nargis i got same kind of email asking for PP... did you submit your passport n got visa yet

My fiance submitted his Passport on the same day he was contacted which was on the 12th of November. And exactly a week later yesterday on the 18th I checked his status online and it said, ISSUED, "Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than 10 working days, please see the webpage for contact information of the embassy or consulate where you submitted your application."

ALHAMDULLILAHHHHH..... Insh'Allah he gets a call soon asking him to come and pick up his passport with the Visa.

A friend of mine was in the same situation and he got a call two days after Visa being issued and Embassy told her to come pick up her passport on the 25th of November.

I hope this Info is somewhat helpful to everyone.

I wonder if the visa issuance is going to slow down for a few days because of the Loya Jigra.

I REALLLLLLLLLLLLY hope it doesn't. I am worried that maybe the security situation will worsen with the Loya Jirga and they slow down everything. They should issue all Visa's ASAP so before things get worse everyone is able to travel and come.

So good news is that the Loya Jirga stuff is not effecting US Embassy and they are still opened, even though most business's and gov't offices in Kabul are closed. The US Embassy in Kabul is issuing Visa's and people have been called to pick up their passports on Sunday and Monday (at least those days I know about from people) after 1:00pm.
