Hey!

So, I was filling out my marriage license form in preparation for when my fiancé and I file it in January, and I'm now really confused! So, when filling in the details it asks for my maiden name (obviously) and what my new last name will be if I am changing it. I do want to change it to my fiancés last name but am now confused in regards to how this (if it does at all) impacts any of the paperwork when applying for the change of status. I can obviously fill in all the actual paperwork with my new last name whilst stating my maiden name, but what about my passport? That's still going to have my maiden name on it as I'm not changing it before hand. Is this going to cause a problem? I've tried looking this up but I'm getting more and more confused, which sucks as I'm sure it's actually pretty simple!

Can anyone help/advise?!

Thanks!!

Don't worry about the passport. I got married and changed my name to my husbands name. I filed the AOS with my new name also. My passport is still in my maiden name and when I went for my biometrics appointment I just made sure I took my marriage certificate along with my passport to show proof of name change. Hope this helps.
