A few quick facts on the knockout game (i did not spend a lot of time, a few old newspaper links) - which is not new, but new to me and is coming more to light with the 2013 convictions.

The basic rules of the game as it exists today: A target is chosen and the "puncher" gets one shot to knock them unconscious.. If they fail then the rest of the group beats the puncher until he goes down.

The first person killed playing knockout was a Norwegian immigrant student at MIT.. One of the three perpetrators was Hispanic and the other two were white... That's all that seems to be important so.. celebrate.

Some recent killings playing the game: A Vietnamese immigrant was killed by a group of teens.. 4 black and 1 white (nice to see them getting along)

The most recent death (not counting the 2013 homeless man) is the first non-immigrant killed.. The two boys doing the killing were 15 and 13 and were not able to get the man completely unconscious with one punch so they spent several minutes kicking him in the head until they were finally able to end his life.

Both boys were found guilty and sentenced to 18 months detention. I found no mention of their race.

I understand her point.. Her personal bias is too strong for any sort of rational discussion, she is unable to concede to any point so there is no reasonable conversation possible.. at least when she is talking to me.

I don't disagree with any of your comments in this thread (or hers for that matter) - I imagine we would probably disagree on some of the root causes or what could be done to solve them.

She's dealing with a bias that all folks of color have to shoulder. In these threads, when it's about black people, the punches don't get pulled. If it wasn't for the TOS, I'm pretty sure the n-word and other racial slurs would be used freely here.

Actually, if you could look through the deleted posts, the ones the mods remove, you'll see it's come up quite a bit. Words like monkey used to describe black people(POTUS and his family specifically), videos with the n-word in it, because according to some here, we all say it or condone it even though I've said it repeatedly I can't stand it. White killers are called crazy, black killers are called civil rights heroes. White serial killers are never mentioned after the rampage, Trayvon Martin is still drug through the mud. He's considered to be the lowest denomination of criminal, and folks like Adam Lanza and James Homes who actually murdered people never get that title.

We can't have a reasonable discussion that deals with race because it's always the same song. Black folks say racism, white folks say bootstrap. It's a mixture of both.

Lost, in Branson Mo, my people can't walk around at night. We aren't safe because the folks in those parts of the woods have no problem taking us on some back road and having a friendly "one way" chat with us. My ex-workmate and his family were ran out of a Wendy's last year because they weren't the right complexion. Go to certain parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Boston, etc.

I took your use of the word "freely" as a gross over-generalization, casting the net of inclusion far too wide. If that isn't the case, then I apologise.

I don't doubt that there is an element of the VJ Lower Fora that would act so, but I believe that the vast majority do not, and would rightly be offended by such actions. TOS, or no TOS, I would hope such postings would be marginalized to the point of irrelevance.

My parents still go to the Ozarks for the summer, and have relayed more than a couple of stories of harsh words and bad service when down there. We used to go when I was little,and it was explicitly told to me, NEVER walk on the trails at night. I thought it had gotten better with time, but according to my mom, dad, and granddad, little has changed.

ESL is more dangerous to me than to you, it isn't open season on white people there, I live 15 minutes from there. I have to worry about bad elements AND cops who think I am the bad elements.

I have a lot to deal with, black, female, look biracial, I get ####### a lot. I do not mean to come across rude by any means, I just want people to know that life isn't full of fairytales for us and no matter what some laws might say, real life situations can be very different.
