POE Procedure

Hi everyone,

only 4 days to go and I'll be on the plane to Seattle with POE SFO- and I'm excited. I've never been an immigrant before

I think I read a lot about POE experiences- but one question remains (and I apologise if this is a silly one):

Will I have to bring proof for the relationship?

You do not need proof of relationship at the POE.... that was long established before you were approved for your visa.

All you need is your passport with your visa in it (and brown envelope from your medical exam, if necessary for DCF) and that's it.

Ok this one. I will maybe recieve this with the visa when I get it. I am still in possession of my big envelope with x-ray and it's still not open.

You won't need the x-rays anymore, just the brown envelope sealed by the consulate and your passport with the visa in it, and of course, the I-94 which you'll fill out during the flight.

looks like the OP did DCF, not sure if the I-94 is required....

Yep, DCF it is... So I have a CR1 in my passport.

I read somewhere that I won't be required to fill out the I-94 but I guess it can't hurt to fill it out and hide it in my handbag just in case

You don't need the I-94. But don't take my word for it. When they pass them out on the airplane, take one and read the instructions on the top of the form itself. It says something to the effect of "This form is for everyone except US Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents, and aliens holding an immigrant visa". I'm going from memory, so I'm sure that those aren't the exact words it uses, and I may have substantially misquoted what it says. But I'm certain that if you carefully read the actual instructions at the top of the I-94, it will tell you that an alien holding an immigrant visa (the CR-1 is an immigrant visa) doesn't need to fill out the I-94.
