Hi everyone.

I am just trying to get information or experience from anyone dealing with Cairo consulate.

We are waiting for interview date and have all the papers and payment for the interview received by the consulate on 11/12/06. On their website they have just posted interviews for January and as last month, there are many other countries on their interview schedule. Countries that I thought would have their own interview process at their consulate. Here is a list of those countries: Ertirea, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates. Why are they scheduling interviews at the Cairo Consulate? Does any one know?

Trying to get information from Cairo Consulate is nearly impossible. I have emailed them (since I am here in US) and my husband has called. They tell me pending an interview slot and they told him that they are checking both of us through the FBI before scheduling interview date. I thought that the FBI name checks were done at NVC before being sent to Cairo.

Also, they sent him a form letter stating that he would have a letter with his interview date within 10 days of receipt of the payment and medical exam, and other papers they required also he would have his interview within 6 weeks of receipt.

,

:help: I cried :crying: today when I saw the schedule for January and his case number is not there. Does anyone have any ideas or information to share with me about this????

Thanks so much.

It took about 2 months to get Mohammed's interview scheduled a year ago. I would keep checking the website and if you aren't eventually scheduled in for January, I'm sure you'll be scheduled in February. Believe me, no one knows better then I do how trying this is. With the increased caseload its going to become even moreso, but hang in there. I wish I could reassure you this is a speedy process, but it just isn't. Just keep the faith and know there are people here who will support you if and when you need it. We'll all get through this together. The only thing that keeps me moving most days is to not think too far down the road and try to stay focused just on today when I start feeling overwhelmed.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was so sure that we would have an interview date for January and I was planning to be there with him for it, but looks like I will just be waiting longer to make travel arrangements to be there with him.

It took Moh. about a month and a half to get an interview date after he returned his packet 3.

I'm not quite sure why the (apparently) most incompetant embassy in the MENA region would take on several other countries' workloads.

It sucks and it's heartbreaking and all that good stuff.
