K-1 Visa question

Hello I am new to this sight and I have some questions concerning our situation. I wish to know what is the best way to apply for a Visa. We are not married yet and if we do decide to marry in China is the visa process any faster.

Well if you want to marry in the US you will need a K1 visa, I believe if you marry in China you would have to apply for a k3 visa. Onto which i've heard people say k3's take longer to process. Possibly someone knowing more about China can be more help.

If you're wondering if the process will go faster if you get married before you file for the VISA, the answer is probably a NO. USCIS does not feel what we feel, so they never seem to speed up. They just push the paper!

If you already reside in China (both of you) you can do Direct Consular Filing, which is faster, but generally no options are very fast. There are considerable benefits to filing after marriage though.

Can we file in China at the American Consulate there? She lives in China and I live in the USA.

No, either way (K1 or K3) will be filed by you to the proper USCIS office (depending where you live).

I believe the fastest way is k-1. I applied in March 2006 and fiance passed interview December 12,2006. I also was caught up in IMBRA situation which was a few months delay. Please go to
