Congratulations on your approval! How exciting smile.png.

Thanks for your input, also. I was beginning to worry. Bit off topic, but I've been to Hungary (Budapest) and I have to say it was definitely one of my favorite cities!

Thank you! I'm the USC but I lived in Budapest for over a year with him and I loved it! It's an amazing city!

Congrats to everyone that received their EADs and interview appointments. That's great news. Our case appeared to be moving fast until the RFE. Hopefully USCIS makes a decision on our response soon.

Thank you! I hope that you hear something soon! :)

Gema has never driven so its all new for her, she has been studying the TXDMV manual so she is ready later but its also very dull info and hard to stay interested. Part of her is just angry there are no taxi's where I live or better public transport lol.

We have Buses in El Paso but they have 1 hour gaps or more in their rotations so a simple trip across town can take 3 hours instead of 30 mins by car.

I miss Taxis and jeepneys too

I know what you mean about public transport - where we are in the suburbs of NJ, there is not much either...and there aren't even taxis really unless you want to go to the airport!

It is extremely dull..I can't imagine how it is for someone who hasn't even driven before. My hubby has done the sample tests for the driving, signs, situations, etc and is nearly flawless..it's all the fines and stuff that are a bit nuts to learn. Hopefully he will take this week and get that done! :) Good luck to Gema!

Hi guys! Sounds like your husband is handy to have around! I would love to decorate but because we are in an apartment the walls have to stay off-white. When did you file for AOS?

Good advice for the driving exam - I've been doing some studying but not as much as I should...wink.png. Is he planning to look for jobs in schools? Does he need to take the state certification to teach? I have a degree in Early Childhood Ed (no teaching qualification though) and I've heard different things about whether or not I can work in schools here.

When everyone had their biometrics, did they take your appointment letter and stamp it? They did that to mine but then they gave it back to me and I still have it now - the reason I ask is because my online case status shows that my files haven't been touched since November 21st... Do USCIS need that to prove I had my biometrics taken? Kinda anxious my case wasn't touched despite having had my biometrics appointment.

He is super handy..I never even dated anyone who was handy so marrying someone who is handy is quite lush. :D

We can't seem to get a straight answer on whether he needs to be re-licensed. I believe he can teach in charter schools and private schools right away...NJ Teacher's association seriously doesn't even pick up the phone. We have heard that since he has so much teaching experience, he may not need to be re-certified. Our plan is to have him start substituting and see if he can make some contacts to get him the answers. He may also do some tutoring work as well...have you thought about doing either of those? :)

I'm not sure about the biometrics answer - maybe someone else can answer that...they wouldn't let me in the back with my hubby. :D

That's great that he has so much experience! I hope he finds something he enjoys!

I think I can also work in private schools( at their discretion) but most private schools in our area are religious and of a particular denomination (which I am not), so we will see. There are a few daycares and preschools around so I will try my luck with those :). LOL, my husband is quite handy but not into DIY..... which is a shame because I have soooo many ideas and he's like," erm, I refuse to look at your Pinterest board", haha! He's very good at other stuff I'm not though so all is well. He did teach me how to jump start a car the other day though, something I never thought I would do!

Hi there

My husband and I have the same NOA date as you :).

Just out of curiosity, who are you calling to find out information on your case? Are they helpful at all? Are they able to tell you what's going on with your case?

Thanks :)

Some folks confuse the USCIS with UPS. One service allows you to track package every step of the way, from when it leaves a location, gets picked up, moved onto the truck in transport, is delivered to a standard terminal location, goes onto another truck ready for shipment, all the way to making it to your front door...The other service isnt as detailed! Have a gander at which one is which! :-)

If all goes well the I-485 updates from Received, to Initial Review, to Testing and Interview. It doesnt tell you that it sent a letter for biometrics, or confirm that they know you had them done, or that it has moved on to the next stage. Wouldnt it be awesome if you could see the details of your file, to see how they were progressing with confirmation of financial support, to adequate documentation, etc? Alas, it doesnt, so we can only go on timelines. If all goes well you'll move from "Initial Review" to "Testing and Interview". Some folks are pining for days for info; better to be in the "Initial Review" than the "Request for Evidence" pile!

I say this with a lot of empathy. Your first step is HOPING that you did everything correctly, and the RFE is a huge PITA to deal with, but then you hope it's something benign (I've seen folks get RFE'd for sending in the previous revision of a form i.e. 2012 v 2013).

Even then, once it moves from the NBC to your local office, it's really location-dependant on how fast you get an interview. Folks in NYC seem to take ages, but is that really surprising?

The only thing you can do is provide accurate data so that you have a benchmark against other applications, but everyone's case is a bit of a #######-shoot once it gets to the local office (the good news is that b/c it's at the local office it means you're scheduled for interview!).

Hey!! What happens is that since they know that i cant get into the online update of our case they make sure u get atleast the same information over the phone. Dont think they give me any further information... They just like, i see everything ok, youve taken ur biometrics, i dont see any negative input right now (i guess meaning rfe), and stuff like that... So really it is not a lot but it is kore than just not knowing anything about my case... Hoping one of these days they will tell me that it has been approved!
