GC, Passport and Entry

I received my GC a few weeks ago and I'm looking to go back to the UK soon in order to visit family and friends.

My UK passport is in my maiden name. Would I need to purchase my tickets in my maiden name to match my passport? Would this void my GC so to speak?

When I re enter the US would I just go to US immigration line and show them my GC and UK passport?

Should I just get my UK passport name changed??

It makes it a lot easier to get past the airline check-in counter when the ticket and passport names match exactly. It doesn't void your GC. Carry a photocopy of your marriage certificate to show your name change in case the re-entry to the US should have any question about it.

A marriage certificate could also explain why your ticket and passport don't match, but then the airline counter people would go fetch a supervisor because they wouldn't know quite how to deal with you before they could issue the boarding pass. It was a passport checking guy at Heathrow who told me that if the ticket and passport don't match, a marriage certificate is required. It's just less hassle to get ticketed in the passport name.

You can continue to travel this way, or get a new passport while in the UK if there is time. It is cheaper than ordering from the US.

Thanks Nich-Nick. You always come to the rescue!

I think I will do just that and get a new passport when back in the UK as I just checked the prices! Holy moly they are expensive to order from here!
