I had the same exact experience in chicago, on april 8 2013 still nothing in the mail or approval notice. I called yesterday talked to tieer2 officer. he said i have 90 more days for them to make decision. I m really frustrated

I just came back from my interview for U.S. citizenship (N400) everything went great; I answered all the questions correct, there were no issues, IO went thru each and every single column of N-400 app, also verified entries on my passports and then he manually added my recent overseas trip, after that officer gave me a “Review form” to verify my personal contact details on a sheet (I said it looks good) then asked me to sign on my snaps also n-400 app (last page) afterwards he handed over N652 form with following checked box:

B) A decision can’t yet be made about your application.

  • Notify USCIS if you change your add
  • Come to any scheduled interview.
  • Submit all requested docs
  • Send any questions about this application in writing to IO.
  • Go to any Oath Ceremony that you are scheduled to attend.
  • Notify USCIS as soon as possible in writing if you can’t come to any scheduled interview or Oath Ceremony. Include a copy of this paper and a copy of the schedule notice.

Before leaving he said do you have any question I’m like I do but it’s applicable to ask at this situation I'm like WHEN IS A NEXT OATH DATE ;) He’s like I can’t tell you because supervisor needs to review your file first! I then I asked him how long this might take ? he gave me his standard proceeding timeframe 120 days straight up I told him that I know it's gona take for ever because I never had a good luch with immigration prcoess !

Anyway fox, what do you think where do I stand? See I couldn’t cherish passing this interview moments due to creepy “decision can’t be made”? Nevertheless your positive feedback will bring a little smile on my face :)

Did any of you experience same situation or have any clue like what's cracking ?

Regards

Well, hubby had his interview today in the Holtsville, New York field office. He passed all the tests - civics and language - with flying colors. He was not asked for any additional documentation other than his passport, drivers license and green card. The N-400 application was reviewed thoroughly and he signed the form where he was instructed to. He was expecting them to say "you are approved!"; instead, what they do in this field office is tell you that you will receive notification by mail on whether you are approved. The CO explained that he had not even reviewed the package we sent in yet so he couldn't approve! When hubby pointed out that other field offices across the country make a decision on the day of the interview, he said that they don't approve on the same day. They really want people just to come in and take the tests and sign everything. Then he said we should get a letter in the mail within the next 30 days. What????? How disappointing to now have to go back to waiting again!

Has anyone ever heard of this?

Just updating the timeline with my interview date! Finally received notification and the letter of my interview at Holtsville, NY for May 8th!

Now to studying.

Anyone have experience with Holtsville Field Office and how long it takes to finish the interview? My interview is scheduled for 7am and I have a school final at 8am. I was hoping I could complete the interview within the hour to make it to my other exam which conveniently is close to that field office.

Thanks!!

Regards

Hubby also received an N-652 today with 2 boxes checked off:

- You passed the tests of English and U.S. history and government

and

- USCIS will send you a written decision about your application

It's really frustrating since the CO didn't even ask for any additional supporting evidence, which we had TONS of! Including recent tax transcripts and joint bank acct statements!

I don't get it!

I can certainly feel your frustration because I’m sailing on a same boat :( we can’t do much about it. the best medicine to heal up is "wait and watch" this mystery is part of a "broken system" AKA USCIS but sooner or later this journey will be finished. . . till then sit tight :)

That is ridiculous. In fact, the officer obviously doesn't know what he is saying. I was approved on the spot after my interview. In fact, i was made to wait for 30 minutes and i was given my oath ceremony letter to come back a few days later for the oath.

I do remember , however , when i had my interview for AOS, that the IO that did my interview just told me that i would receive a letter in the mail with the results, and it would say if i was approved or denied. I left very dissapointed and upset but the next day i checked my status online and it said that i had been approved. And i got my Green Card later on that week.

I am sure your husband will get a positive outcome in the mail very soon.

Thanks Nounou11! It's now the home run for us. :)

Good luck to everyone else with their interviews!

Hi guys,i had my interview today aswell. I have to say ,i am really lucky...the nicest officer throughout my long journey...so after swearing,he went right on with the n400(very very quick) then i read and wrote a sentence.then the 6 questions and after that he said since i am applying under the 3-year rule,he asked me documentation proving that i am still married..he asked for joint bank account and we dont have it and i added that my wife and i get along very well when we separate money and he laughed and he said my marriage is the same way man(yes he said MAN).he asked me if we have an auto insurance with both names and i said yes and he said thats enough for him..he had pictures of him for when he was in the navy and i asked him about it and he talked it for at least 8 min..after that he left the room and came back with 2 pieces of paper..on one it says n400 granted and on the other one i signed it and said i will an oath letter in 1-2 month and he went and said thats just a safe timeframe and that i might receive it even sooner...i brought so much paperwork and he only took the auto insurance...very nice man... almost there guys...good luck everyone and CONGRATS TO BOSTONIAN...

Thanks, Gringasuramerican, but I do believe that it's this particular field office that does things this way. Every field office seems to have their own procedures. I.e. some offices offer same day oaths while others do not. I sincerely hope that it is just as he said - that he didn't review our package yet and therefore, could not yet approve. Either way, I had never heard of this so I was caught off guard and was very disappointed and bewildered. And I also don't understand why he didn't even ask for any additional documentation - at the very least our 2013 joint tax return (when we filed in December, we didn't have it). Now we just have to wait. Sigh...

GM,

Just a silly thought process, after N-652 how come my online status hasn't changed currently from "Testing and Interview" to "Decision can't be made" or “Request for more evidence" what so not?

As far as I remember IO asked me to update USCIS immediately IF I move out, should I assume what he meant that I should be getting such notification by a MAIL rather than online status update?

Note*** This Monday I'd passed the civic test, subsequently I was given n-652 checked with "Decision can't yet to be made"

DebbyNSeyi what does your online status says ?

Regards

The whole interview was 10 minutes tops. They were remarkably prompt. Read my review of my husband's interview above and please post your experience after yours. Curious if they will do things the same way when it's your turn. Good luck!

Thanks for keeping me updated on your experience! My interview was brief as well. Will share my experience in my next post. I hope you won't have any more delays and your hubby completes the process soon!
