I would say that it's cheaper for USCIS to send a copy rather then printing it on the old style of papers. Saving money. I could be wrong but it makes sense to me lol.

Did Biometrics in Dallas. My appointment was at 3PM and it was quite empty. I talked to guard and it has been slow there since December. I should have done early walk-in.

Wow I am so pissed. So my bio date was today. It's Martin Luther King and it's a Federal holiday. But oh well I assumed if they sent me this date, they'd be open.

So I go to this end of the world place in Brooklyn, NY for my appointment. I get there and the doors are closed and it says it's closed due to the federal holiday. And that they would email people who had appointments today to reschedule. Say what? Why did they book it on this day then? And... say what again? I didn't get any email telling me this.

GRRR. Lost a few hours of my life (and holiday) going there. So f-ing annoying! Why, oh why???

My application and process is definitely NOT going smooth this time. Had issues in every step so far.

QUESTION: Can I just go to any Application Support Center this week? I work in Manhattan and don't want to get out of my way to do this, again.

Edit: Can I just go to this other one below? (both closer to my house and to work):

West Houston Street Entrance
New York, NY 10014.

Also: I hope they won't delay my application because of this. Is there someone I can email to let them know why I didn't do my bio on the scheduled date? They seem to be incredibly uncoordinated and I have the impression they might put a note that I just gave up my application or so!

Done today - 05/09/14! It's been a long journey... that I was more than ready to be done with it...

N-400: (Eligibility criteria: 5 years) - took 4 months, 27 days (148 days)
12-13-13: Eligibility Date
12-13-13: Application Sent

12-17-13: Received/Priority Date
12-19-13: NOA Date
12-20-13: Check Cashed
01-02-14: Bio Letter Sent Date (long time... not a good idea to send application before holidays...)

01-07-14: Bio Letter Rcvd'
01-20-14: Original Bio Date -- duh. they booked me on a Federal Holiday and the center was... closed.
03-07-14: Actual Bio Date (walk-in)

03-11-14: In line for Interview

03-12-14: Interview letter
04-17-14: Interview - Passed. Phew!

04-23-14: Oath Ceremony queue | scheduled (both at the same day)

04-26-14: Got Oath Ceremony letter in mail

05-09-14: (Friday) Oath Ceremony. Done! + Applied for US Passport Book & US Passport Card (expedited)

05-23-14: (Friday) American Passport Book received (via Priority Mail) after 2 weeks

05-27-14: Received back original Naturalization Certificate + American Passport Card in the mail (weirdly did not receive USPS tracking notifications for that)

Officially D-O-N-E!

N-400: 05-09-2014

I-751: 10-21-2011

AOS from H1B: 03-13-2009

Wow I am so pissed. So my bio date was today. It's Martin Luther King and it's a Federal holiday. But oh well I assumed if they sent me this date, they'd be open.

So I go to this end of the world place in Brooklyn, NY for my appointment. I get there and the doors are closed and it says it's closed due to the federal holiday. And that they would email people who had appointments today to reschedule. Say what? Why did they book it on this day then? And... say what again? I didn't get any email telling me this.

GRRR. Lost a few hours of my life (and holiday) going there. So f-ing annoying! Why, oh why???

My application and process is definitely NOT going smooth this time. Had issues in every step so far.

WOW that sucks!

I would be really upset too. Why did they schedule you today if they were going to be closed???. It doesn't make any sense. That is jus two unorganized and unprofessional.

Thank God this is Naturalization and is the last step of the way and it is not AOS or something.

I would just do a walk in if i were you.

I am still not in line yet...

no update on my "in line status" does it usually take 30 days to move from "in line" to get a date?

It depends on your local office. It can take anywhere from 1 day to 3 months.

I've read several posts about people successfully switching Application Support Centers for convenience, but here is an unsuccessful attempt in New York that you should definitely read before you decide what to do:

Whether you pick your original Support Center or a different one, I think you should do a walk-in instead of waiting to be rescheduled.

FYI

guys i did my bio metric approximately one month ago and i have not seen any change, in terms of been place inline, two weeks ago i called USCIS and was told once we file within the 90 days period its not possible to have our status change until after the our anniversary date, so when its close to that date then they will schedule us for interview which is normally close to the anniversary date, due to the fact that some office do same day oath taking are as early as the day after, are a week after they try to make the hold process happen close to the anniversary, and one important factor is the processing speed of our local uscis office.
