Hmm do they send a text/email update when they change the status to bio appt sent?

Yes. The status will say that a bio metrics appointment letter has been sent.

My online status still says:

Initial Review

On December 19, 2013, we received this N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. (...)

So nothing about bio letter :/

Re: apps - Yeah I've downloaded from iTunes app store like 4 apps to study, but somehow I feel I'll do better with the physical one from USCIS. When do you guys intend to start studying?

FYI there's a really cool app for iPhone that is called us citizenship and flash cards I really like it because you can even put your rep on there and even now and then they will ask you local questions like the capital of your state the name of your senator and rep is really cool there's also one for android but it doesn't have the local questions...

Have you had any updates online? My two weeks are tomorrow and it doesn't say anything about sending finger print letter yet what's your online case status?

Done today - 05/09/14! It's been a long journey... that I was more than ready to be done with it...

You're right. They're back to work. Just received an update through text and email this minute saying they mailed me the bio appt smile.png

New status online:

Initial Review

On January 2, 2014, we mailed you an appointment notice to have your fingerprints taken. Please follow the instructions on the notice.

I wish we could just receive the notice and print it and go do a walk in. Their mail system is so... paleolithic tongue.png

Didn't they say a while back all applications would be online, and everything would be electronic? Hmm...

yes it will. Thats what happened to mine

Question: when you receive the bio appt, does it mean they are with done all background checks needed, and all is well?

Oh... you're right! :) Online it said they received application on Dec. 19 when in fact it was 17.

That would be nice. I'll jump of happiness if I get the letter tonight and be able to walk in tomorrow.

the biometrics letter is an appointment for you to go and get your finger prints and picture taken. When done USCIS sends those to FBI and the FBI looks you up in the system. Im talking about they will find anything small about you that you might even forgot lol. After that USCIS SCHEFULES you for interview actually you are not off the hook for background checks until oath. Thats why in the oath letter they still ask you if you changed address or had a ticket. As long as you didnt have a drug related tickets or unpaid one or you didnt have major crimes, you should be good.

AboSohaila,

What exactly are you trying to prove? You could always have your green card but travel abroad for extended periods of time. So to prove that you got your green card in order to reside in the US, you will need to declare all trips taken out of the country, longer than 24 hours, since you received your green card.

It will also help to include rental lease / ownership deed documents in your package.

Thanks, that's interesting to know! I'm not worried at all, I have no records whatsoever, was just curious ;)

i have never been any where out side the US by the way. so is there any document or thing u guys do to prove u were in the US and never been abroad?

The only thing I think they expect as "proof" of time in the US is just to fill "Part 7. Time Outside the United States" with your trips.

I filled a separate page with all my trips (I had more than could be fit on the form).

They can probably check if they want if your statement of trips is true. I was very careful when doing it, checked all dates on passports and my trip records.
