I am filling N-400 form in December for fife years being live in USA, Do I have to send a copy of my three years ago filling tax ? and copy of my credit cards and debit cards plus car loan paper work? is that necessary?

Since you're filling under the five year rule I don't think you need to supply tax returns or financial information like I am. I'm including that information since I'm applying under the three year rule (married to a US citizen for three years) and those documents will be proof of a legitimate marriage.

I'm open to correction on this!

I will be sending out my package this Saturday, November 30th, which is the day my 90 day window opens. Is there anyone here that can add me to the timeline?. I really don't know how to work it and do not want to mess it up.

nachos and techshour - welcome and good luck to you!

techshour, below is my cover letter for the package, with the items I'm sending based on 5 year residency as well:

--

þ This Cover Letter (1 page);

þ N-400 – Application for Naturalization, signed & dated (10 pages);

þ A check in the amount of $680, which includes: USCIS application fee ($595) and the biometrics services fee ($85), payable to: Department of Homeland Security. A# on the back of check;

þ A photocopy of both sides of Permanent Resident Card (front and back) (1 page);

þ 2 identical color photographs, with name and Alien Registration Number (A-Number) written lightly in pencil on the back of each photo - in Ziploc bag;

þ Copy of divorce decree, dated xx/xx/xx (5 pages);

þ List of Time Outside the United States (1 page).

--

I don't intend to send any tax transcripts as per posts I've read here on VJ, but it would be good to hear from other 5-year applicants.

Question to all: What should be the order of these items in the package to make things clearer to the officer?

Also: can anyone confirm the current fee is $680 indeed?

I intend to send the package on Dec. 13.

hey gringasuramerican - I am not sure I know how to format the timeline correctly either, but tell us where your Field Office is and where you're filing (Texas or Nebraska) so I or someone can add you ;)

techshour - I thought about applying to Medicaid as my Cobra insurance from last job just ended and I haven't found a new position yet.

Are you sure it's okay to apply for Medicaid before getting Citizenship (as in, Medicaid it's NOT a means tested benefit, is it?)

I hope someone can answer you re: Request for Fee Waiver.

also I am receiving Medicaid benefit, so I am wondering if it is okay to fill 1-912 form for fee waver and mail it with my N-400 form?

Mimigrant, Thank you for welcoming me.

I am still confused about early filling ( 90 days) before complete five years.

some guys said I have to wait till February/2014 to apply but I found an early application 90 days before complete five on the USCIS website.

any one could clear that for me please?

Thank you.

Here's the date calculator from USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/early-filing-calculator

Enter your anniversary date and it will let you know when you can early file. Basically you can file 90 days before your anniversary. My anniversary is 03/04/2014 so my early filing date is 12/04/2013 and I can file anytime after that.

superwario, from USCIS website:

"A check or money order for the application fee and the biometrics services fee for fingerprinting. (...) Write your A-Number on the back of the check or money order. You may combine the fees into one check or money order. Make your check or money order payable to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security."

As they don't specify anything about address or acct #, I would just put what your bank asks you to. Through A# USCIS can always identify your case. Note: I am no expert though.

I am also early filing. Meaning I am filing on the first day that my 90 day window of opportunity opens. Sending out my package this saturday November 30th.

If anyone can updates the timeline, that would be great so we can all start to add our cases.

My field office is Miami and I am filing my form with Texas lockbox.

Hello all, I was a November filer but my packet was rejected and sent back last Friday. I contacted them earlier this week and the supervisor said it was rejected by mistake by a trainee officer. She told me to mail it back as soon as I receive it and put her name in ATTN on the package. Since I didn't receive it today, I guess I wont get it till next week since its thanksgiving tomorrow. Any way a little background on my packet:

We are filing N400 under 319(b) of INA Expedited Naturalization. If you aren't sure what it is, its for spouses of government employees working overseas and are authorized to be with them. In our case my husband is in the army and will be stationed in korea in march and I am authorized to travel with him. The 319(b) waves the 3 year or 5 year requirement thus being called expedited. On average its been taking 2-3 months from mailing to interview and oath. Since we just completed our I751 and received my 10 year PR Card in August we hope the background investigation doesn't take to long and they can send it right over to the field office. And also since we just did biometrics for the I751 also a couple months ago maybe we can skip that part this time?

All military related packets have to be sent to the Nebraska Service Center. In my packet I requested the interviewing office be in Fairfax, VA as they are the most knowledgeable on this type of case.

With the packet being sent back last Friday and the holidays we would have lost two weeks progress. I hope that doesn't make to much of a difference as we need to have the naturalization done in time to receive my passport before March when we leave for Korea.

So I wish all of us the best of luck and hope we all get a timely naturalization. ^_^

On date did you first get your green card on?

If you have been a permanent resident for at least three years AND are married to a US citizen then you can apply for citizenship after three years.

Otherwise, you will need to have been a permanent resident for at least five years before applying for citizenship.

If you let us know your green card anniversary date and whether or not you're married to a US citizen we can let you know when you can send in your application.
